Apparently the BBC know this is a problem and are in discussions with MS about it. If and ever it gets fixed is another problem though.

BBC suggest as a workaround that you can listen to iPlayer Radio using the browser. Well you can but only if you stop the phone locking as that way it is streaming as a foreground task.

Can I encourage anyone else who would like to use the iPlayer Radio app on there phone to add their complaint on the BBC web site please?

My hope is they get it fixed before this summer's test matches start as I am often in a position where I cannot get DAB radio reception. My workaround is to listen using the app on my Android tablet tethered to my Windows phone but that takes a heavy toll on the phone battery and is not practical for a full day's play and also from having to carry the tablet around with me.

Windows Phone is dead. Apps are either being pulled from the store or just left abandoned in a broken state.

There is the tunein radio app but that too I find either stutters constantly or stops steaming at random intervals.

It's ashame because Windows Phone is vastly better than Android, but Microsoft just didn't join the race quickly enough and got left behind and then forgotten.

The issue for Windows phone is that with 1% market share app developers just aren't interested in investing too much time in the platform. They are commercially motivated or at least have constraints on the number of people and development time, you can see why they don't want to dedicate much effort to it and are focusing on the other 99%.

I fear that the number of people with Windows phone in the UK who want to use that app and who care enough to email in will be so tiny that it just won't make a difference or persuade the BBC to invest more time in it.

True but doesn't help if you want to listen to something on catch up as I did yesterday. And TuneIn is even worse than iPlayer Radio at handing off between mobile / wi-fi data signals.

Sadly, I have to agree with you there. Is it too much to hope that MS would not want to put a bit of effort into helping a major player like the BBC though? It used to work (sort of, was always bad on battery usage) so MS have changed summat to break it.

Even the iPlayer app is broken on Windows Phone. When I used it, nearly every time I watched a programme or even just browse the menu, the app crashed and goes back to the phones menu.
