This site is easy to search via Google. Just put Digital Spy and the topic you seek. It finds it quickly.

I use an HP Pavillion 4GB RAM
I stick with Firefox except for a couple of things I use Chrome for, or if I need to go into my account on TalkTalk which will only open in Edge strangely. |

So if you want a pain free experience of DS go out and buy a new computer?
Despite this being the only site that causes any issues with my 6 year old Windows 7 PC. It's certainly underpowered by modern standards but it happily runs Photoshop, Spotify and several tabs open at once. Even while performing updates its not too bad. But use DS without an ad blocker and the whole thing comes crashing down. It's not the age of a computer that's the problem it's the DS website and forums and the way the adverts are implemented, even the double scroll bar keeps reappearing. No other site causes these issues. |

I quite thought that we were going to have a whole new look DS with a new hosting company, lightning navigation facilities and everything. So now I find that absolutely nothing about this site has changed .. it's still tissocky as hell, very annoying to scroll through (won't always respond to the scroll wheel properly), sometimes freezes for a few seconds (press f5 to resolve), sometimes doesn't recognise letters you type into a post so you have to preview to try and get it to work properly. Every time you click another page or make a change to a post in progress, you have to wait a second or two to give it time to 'jump' down the page before becoming still again, and so on and on .. it's so wearing.
I can't be the only person who finds this the most un-user friendly forum on the internet (and I belong to several which are a joy to use). Come on Digital Spy, you promised so much but nothing seems to have happened! http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/annou...php?f=22&a=399 Quote:
Will the new regime sort out the search function, I wonder?
I can just about remember when it used to work. Now, when you post on a thread, it just disappears and you don't get a chance to reply to other posters. |

Yes, mine does all of that. I have Chrome and an ad blocker. Hopefully it will be sorted out by 16th Jan as they said.
http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/annou...php?f=22&a=399 What do you mean, it disappears? When you've contributed to a thread, there's a downward blue arrow indicator on the far left of the thread title, over the envelope symbol. ![]() For finding threads which have been replied to, there's also subscriptions - just keep it turned on and go to the page to see which threads you've posted on have had replies. http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/usercp.php There's also 'New Posts' on the menu above. |

Where did the 16th January come from - the link you posted doesn't mention a date. I doubt they will do it during CBB, busy time on the forums - but who knows

I've just noticed on the other announcement it's 11-12-2016 until 12-01-2017?? Yes thanks Muggins, I know about the other methods. I'm bone idle and always just use the blue arrow thingy. There'll be a bloody riot if anything interrupts the fights on the CBB forum .

babble
I have similar problems to the OP but just on this site. Thought I was my old cheapo laptop but after investing in a slightly better upmarket one it is no better Think I need a super laptop but am wary of the technobabble the sales people give out and wasting money on a more expensive one Perhaps posters who have no problems with DS could tell us if this is true, and what model laptop etc. they are using It's not a PC spec issue, it's a browser issue. Move away from IE and embrace FF or Chrome. That will sort the problems out (providing you install an ad-blocker) |

Now that my post has been out there for a day or two, it's really interesting to see the variation in people's perceptions of the DS website, relating to the issues I outlined at the top.
Happily for me there are people who have exactly the same problems as I do and they're not all using the same combination of OS and browser. Like many on here I have absolutely no trouble with any other website or forum .. no exceptions. Windows 8.1 + IE 11 + pop-up blocker + superfast broadband (optional, mine just happens to be 72Mbps) should be perfectly adequate to surf any site or contribute to any forum. The fact that this is often a real trial with DS points to one thing and one thing only ... the DS site itself. Hopefully the proposed changes will resolve all the tiresome issues. |

My OS is Windows 8.1 64bit. I use IE 11, set to install new versions automatically (it's currently showing v. 11.0.9600.18538). I tried chrome once but I hated the interface so reverted to regular IE, which has been perfectly adequate for absolutely everything I do. The pop-up blocker is set to 'on'. The router is connected to my PC with an Ethernet cable.
If there's anything about the above spec which you feel might be the cause of the problems I have with the DS site (and, I remind you, only the DS site) then I'll be pleased to hear from you again. |
