I've noticed the trend of burgers that are too big to eat served on slabs of whatever is being replaced by 'street food' and 'artisan pizzas'. Mainly in the too cool for school micro bars.

Not entirely sure what street food is, but seems to be kebab or tapas type stuff. The name though isn't appealing. Pizzas cooked stone baked or clay ovens seem to be springing up all over my county though at the moment. Some are decent but most are terrible. Made by people who think putting a pizza in a stone baked oven will be good even if the staff can't make them properly.

Still though, pizza is better than anything served in a brioche bun!

Have you seen this in your area?

Yeah ...........there's loads of it round me

In Tottenham Court Road, London there's a row of stalls selling 'street food' like Vietnamese and all that kind of stuff that you see on travel documentaries

And just off Euston Road we have a street market on Thursdays selling all that stuff as well

I've never tried it though..........mainly 'cos I wouldn't know what to ask for...........

There is one in Rupert Street Soho on Fridays and I know of another in St Katherines Dock by Tower Bridge. Great in summer for something quick and different.

make sure you ask for "street food" and not "road food" or they'll give you a squashed badger

I never eat it, but have taken my mums dogs whitecross market and it passes the sniffalot test

having it in pubs is ridiculous, all you need is a pint, a dog and a bag of pork scratchings

I would just be happy to have a pub nearby that serves freshly prepared food at a half reasonable price. The majority round mine either have chain menus of reheated/grilled stuff or want £14 for some chicken and rice.

Food trends will always come and go but I'm pleased to see the back of the "posh burger" phase. I love a good burger as much as anyone but I like mine done simply without any bizarre toppings and not costing £15.

At the moment Street Food seems mostly limited to London and hasn't yet reached most of the provinces. Vietnamese street food is great but it's best served in Vietnam where it costs pennies.

Some fantastic and varied street food options around my workplace in Shoreditch.

Loads around us but we're in Shoreditch, dont really take custom from us, as were a sit down kind of gather round place, and you cant really do that standing up eating pizza.

I miss the old hot dog guys that used to push their metal trolleys around the West End parks, ok they were uncooked horse meat but they were tasty, great days

Re-heated dozens of times after the police chased the vendors off. Sometimes retrieved from wastebins.

We've had a couple of festivals round here last summer/Autumn and I noticed one stall selling "gourmet burgers", just for a burger was £9!! I'd rather go into a proper restaurant and pay that not some crappy stall

We have street food in Wolverhampton now. When it's reached that far then there is no stopping it.

Plenty of it around here in Luton.

A new Five Guys place has opened recently.

No as they've been creeping in since the start of 2016.

they still have the blokes roasting chestnuts on open braziers around the British Museum area..........the heat, the smoke, the smell, it's great walking past them in winter but I hate to think what the tourists think they are..........
