Would A Twist Ruin Last Night's Ending?

Basically as the thread title says....

I've got this nagging feeling that it all seems to be a little obvious at the moment...something's gonna happen that no-one sees coming.

Could Ronnie (Or Roxy for that matter) still be alive??

It's possible. But only if they can hold their breath for ages and ages.

Roxy is definitely a goner given how the scene played out, but it would be wise to at least leave the door open for Ronnie, perhaps make her indefinitely comatose? Unless there is something major planned with Glenda, I don't expect I'll be tuning in for a very long time. That branch of the Mitchells was the only interesting family left on the show, as far as I'm concerned.

Having looked at the alternate ending...there's nothing to say that the twist is that Ronnie doesn't die after all. Yes, they were both in the pool, final shot of them together, no music on the credits.
I thought there was going to be a twist when there was still near enough 5 minutes left to go when Roxy jumped in and while I can see her death being plausible, I was wondering if at the last second, someone would rescue Ronnie.

However, even if they are both dead, I am happy with that. Not because I disliked them but because it's a final line underneath them both. Not just that, but at least then Ronnie hasn't lost yet another person in her life and we don't have to hear the "But she was my sister!" line yet again. I actually think it was the right move sending them both out together and if it remains the same in this episode with no one being rescued or still alive, I have no problems with it

Don't drink and dive, people!

A twist would be great, but sadly think I think there is no chance. Sam Womack and Rita Simons have been pretty open with their tweets, and the look on Jacks face from this weeks episodes aim towards both being dead.

But have their tweets been deliberate to add to the shock of the twist.

I hope Ronnie is alive but I doubt it. They kept going on about "Sisters being together forever", and by dying together, they are tragically bound together for ever. I wouldn't be surprised if they trick us though, by showing Ronnie walk back into the hotel room to see Jack, only for it then to be revealed Jack was imagining it. I wouldn't put it past EE.

They can't just keep 1 alive they are a duo.

I would love Ronnie to be alive, i think Roxy was a bit far gone. I really don't want them both to be dead, it would spoil my fave soap for me.

The only thing that makes me sceptical is they filmed alternate endings, and on both endings Roxy died and Ronnie survived. Were these endings filmed just to put the press off to stop the actual ending being revealed, or did they do scripts and film stuff afterwards involving the alternate ending?

Except it was just Roxy during the two years when Ronnie was in prison. Obviously.

I really doubt there will be a twist, though.

It would be great if there was, I like your thinking Lucy. But no, what's done is done on this occasion.

I'm pretty sure the reason they do this is because location filming and stunt filming greatly increase the risk of leaks.

As I posted on another thead:
There was no "alternate ending". The stuff on the pool table was just a decoy.

"Alternate endings" may be genuine when they're in the DVD extras for a Hollywood movie. However, the concept is utter nonsense for an ongoing soap opera when you consider they shoot two months in advance. If there's an "alternate ending" in which Ronnie lived, then there would also need to be alternate versions of all subsequent episodes in which Ronnie's death is mentioned.

At best, the "alternate" scenes are shot as a one-off to have some "foilers" (fake spoilers) in the event of leaks from temporary staff at the location shoot.

Have you ever noticed how the "alternate" versions are always much cheaper than the actual stunts? In this case, a very basic pool table death, rather than an elaborate underwater stunt.

I think if DTC was still in charge we would have a huge twist tonight and one of the sisters would live, under SOC no I don't think he'll do a twist he seems to like things basic.

Under DTC I doubt the Mitchell sisters would be killed off.

Keep both alive! Either kill both or keep both alive. Their togetherness was the whole point of last night's episode. Keeping one alive would render that entire episode, and not to mention the last 10 years pointless.

Hoping they both stay dead. Ronnie's character is just dire, at least Roxy had some decent storylines recently.

Good point, although, not to nitpick, but wouldn't the 'fall off the roof' be quite expensive to film as well, given all the wire-work etc?

Except it would've also been new story ground for either sister - Roxy would've had to really step up and make her own way in the world, whereas Ronnie on the flipside would've had to learn to ultimately live without her one true friend and or truly let a man into her heart [although the last few months have shown that she was already on the way to doing both, perhaps].

Roxy surviving would've been the more interesting [but also hardest] to pen of the two, imho - that survivors guilt when she's already had years of feeling that she ruined everything for Ronnie would've broken her.

But alas.

Expensive to film an actual stunt, but very cheap to just photograph when you don't see the fall.

I do understand this, but what gets to me is that for almost a decade EE have romanticised the relationship between the two sisters. Killing one and keeping one seems like the best decision when you're a writer, but as the audience who have seen the two sisters since they started, you just don't want to know. At least I don't lol. Ronnie and Roxy were by far my favourite characters in EE. I really hope to see yesterday's end being undone.

Doubt it.
a) I think Ronnie's locket falling off was meant to symbolise the moment she died; b) it would spoil what we saw last night. It was meant to reflect the story of Cinderella, who had gone to to the ball looking fabulous, met her prince and at midnight, the magic ended. Another point was the "sisters together forever" thing which was repeated a few times in the episode, and had been at other times. They arrived on the square together; they left together.
Even assuming anyone arrived on the scene immediately and dragged them out of the water, having hospital scenes/ resuscitation/one of them living for several days etc, would spoil all that.

That would have been interesting, and tragic; Roxy realising that Ronnie jumped in to save her but it cost her her life. I doubt she would have been able to handle the guilt though - not to mention Jack's anger.

Wasn't it DTC who said that Ronnie was, and had to be, a tragic heroine? If so, then that ending was entirely fitting for her - a couple of hours of happiness, and then it's all gone. Like with Danielle; everything she'd ever wanted, hearing her supposed dead daughter call her "mum", and then it's snatched away from her.

Ah yes. I never considered that. That could be possible
