I'm sure DTC has said exactly that before. He envisaged Ronine as the girl who never quite "makes it". She always just gets that glimpse of happiness before it's snatched away from her

That's why it annoyed me when they tried to turn her into a dark villain (aka Archie's Apprentice) a couple of years ago.
