It's great news for Phil, I suppose, that if his new liver doesn't work properly, there are two more waiting for him. Every cloud .... and all that.

Roxy's liver is probably just as pickled to be honest

Clearly you don't know how the transplant scheme works!

I'm so pleased you're back - you're the one person of the 'old guard' that I've missed

It's quite straightforward really. At the mortuary, they'll use a small hacksaw and cut out the livers and encase them in ice until they have space in the freezer. They store them until they are needed and a surgeon glues them onto the ribcage of the recipient where the old liver was and then sews up the skin so you can't even tell that they have had a transplant. The fact that they are related means that there is a 90% better chance that the liver will be compatible so Phil will be ok to start drinking again as long as he doesn't overdo it totally. He will need to stick to the recommended units per week for middle aged men which is about 30.

It's a shame they said Phil's new unseen best friend Tony was dead as he could have had one of them and become an honorary Mitchell - Phil's new bruva from another mother

I suppose if Phil required one of the livers it might finally put an end to the speculation that they haven't actually died. I mean, Ronnie walking into the Vic one day without a liver is a little bit far fetched.

I really thought this was where we were heading, if only he had hung on for a couple of days, I am more upset about Tony's death than I am about Ronnie and Roxy

No problem to Ronnie after all she's been going into the Vic all this time without a heart

I'm sad for what could have been ... Tony used to send Phil joke texts that made him laugh, has anyone in the history of time ever managed to do that.

Loved Ronnie but she has been going into the Vic all this time without a heart and with a permanent sniff. She sniffed before she spoke constantly

Ronnie's will have been encased in ice for the past few decades anyway by virtue of her stone cold soul.

I imagine a permanent sniffle is common side effect for an ice maiden.

Will you miss R&R Mo?

The liver has to be removed within a very short time of death or it dies and becomes unusable. Looks like R @ R will be floating all night.

Only in the sense that I love hating soap characters and Ronnie, in particular, was one of my fave ones to loathe so I'll miss her for that. However, I'll still be ok while we've got Billy, Stacey and Lee on the scene. And just think how brilliant it would be if my all time most hated character Minty ever came back.
