New Year On Your Own?
How many of you spent new years eve on their own?
I was going to go skiing with some friends but discovered my elderly mum was going to be left on her own so I cancelled. Mum ended up in hospital. I couldn't get a booking at a restaurant some other friends were going to and my sister just said well we are going out so you can't come to ours. So I celebrated New Year on my own. Drove into Manchester to watch the fireworks then spent over an hour trying to get out of the car park! |

I was at home here with mum and dad, but we didn't make any fuss about it.

I walked the dogs before the fireworks started, had a hot bath when we got home, watched Die Hard 2 and ate orange jelly. It was awesome!
I think the last time I spent New Years with other people (and Christmas for that matter) was in 2006

I was ill and so cancelled my plans to go to a party. Wasn't on my own had the dog for company my ex and various friends were texting me during the eve/night so it was all fun.
I was more bothered at not being able to go out new years day over new years eve. |

I'm in self-imposed semi-quarantine at the moment because of a contagious skin condition. 😷

I've spent new year with the same people for the last 30 years. That's probably equally weird

This year I stayed at home
Last year I went to the fireworks in London, let me tell you that isn't all it is cracked up to be! Nice to do once in your life I suppose but try walking around central London afterwards in a crowd of 100,000 people trying to do the same thing, not a great experience! |

I was at home with Jr, so not technically alone, but she was in her room and I was in the living-room chatting away here on DS.
I haven't been our on NYE since I was pregnant with her - which was the millenium. |

Me. My parents did say I could stay with them. But they'd just be watching crap on TV. Visited them on Sunday though.

Usually on my own, toast absent friends, light a candle for those who have died, watch the fireworks on BBC1.
However this year I was invited by my friend to see it in with them. Well, I got there for 11 and when the fireworks started at 11.15 their two supersize Akitas went CRAZY and were barking and bashing stuff over. No amount of soothing could get through and I ended up leaving at 11.45 after I had my foot cut as one cannoned into the sofa where I was sitting. So next year I will definitely be spending it alone. |

We had a night out on the Friday and my son was with me NYE, so we just went next door for a couple of hours, came back for about 11.00, played Cluedo and had a bottle of fizz.

I was babysitting so after I'd put the 6 year old to bed I spent a very pleasant evening on my own until her parents rolled in at 1am and I headed home on the tube.
It's how I've spent every New Year since she was born as I've never really bothered with going out and they really enjoy it. |

I was on my own. My partner went out with her parents, I was invited but declined. I got a takeaway and watched TV.
This was until about 11.20 when they wanted picking up from the pub they were in, then they wanted a takeaway so I actually saw the New Year in in my car parked outside a takeaway |
