Does anyone know of a small single speaker that doesn't switch itself off after x minutes of no input?

If we put them into these categories...

1. Speaker stays on all the time when running on mains power
2. Speaker goes into standby after x minutes of no signal (even when running on mains), but switches back on automatically if it receives a signal
3. Speaker turns off after x minutes of no signal (even when running on mains), and must be manually switched back on

...then most (all?) Bluetooth speakers seem to fall into category 3. I am looking for one ideally in category 1. I don't care about the behaviour when running on batteries, if present.

I have a pair of Creative speakers that are in category 2, which is OK, but they're bulkier and more expensive than I'm looking for. I want a single speaker, priced around £20. (Also, you miss the first second of whatever sound wakes the speakers up.)
I also have another speaker in category 3. Great speaker, but it cannot be used for e.g. alarm clock purposes, due to the auto-switch off feature.

I have a Creative D100 which I use in the work van when I get one with a bust radio. This falls into category 3 though I power it from my portable USB power bank to save on batteries and it is the power bank itself which shuts down after a few minutes when it detects no current draw so have to manually press its power switch each time I get back in the van.

But just ordered one of these

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

which is supposed to go a lot louder than the D100 (which is just about adequate for road use) and has an internal rechargeable battery so less fiddly to set up as well as being small enough to fit in my work bag. Will report back when I find out how it behaves when playback is paused.

I usually use an aux audio input connection (for my Clip+ PMP) so behaviour may be different between that and a Bluetooth connection?
