The actors, sports stars and pop stars get the award for what, doing their job?
If they are good enough pop stars have their own industry honours, equally if they are good enough athletes will win titles and gold medals, why do they need OBEs, and so on. The same is true of business men, people like Alen Sugar and Richard Brandson did not start charities they made themselves rich. |

No one deserves an honour just for doing their job however good thy are at it, as they have already been rewarded with pay, medals and trophies or both. Honours should be for people who do something that helps others and for which they get no other reward (financial or otherwise). Theyt should also do away with the Sevices To ... bollocks and actually list what a person did to deserve their honour.

I personally cannot fathom why someone who has accomplished something fantastic would then want to be thankful for bowing down and receiving a 'well done' in front of someone who was essentially born into their role.
Each to their own and all that but I just don't see any value in it. |

So no honours for the armed services then?
Military honours also differ in that the citation actually states what they're getting the medal for, not some services to ... whitewash. |
