That's Star Cambridge, totally different station and one of the smallest in the group.

UKRD have sold Star Radio Cambs to Mid Anglian Radio Limited, owned by Cambridge 105 director Tony Sayer.

I've always felt Star Radio has huge potential that hasn't ever been realised - Simon Nicks did a huge amount to improve the station imaging and music policy but listening figures have historically been awful - it now doesn't even take part in Rajar as the most recent figures a few years ago were frankly embarrassing.

Perhaps the 'Lottie and Craig Show' can finally be binned off...utterly excruciating radio. Both are young presenters with huge potential, however this just does not work.

UKRD is built on stations with no or minimal competition from Global and Bauer - stations like Wessex FM, Yorkshire Coast Radio, Spire FM. I notice that Star Cambridge is not included in RAJAR ratings to indicate it was underperforming. Like Juice 107.2, UKRD are selling the stations that do not met its criteria.

This is the second station UKRD has sold in recent months with Juice 107.2 last summer.

Presumably now that they've finally found a decent strategy digitally with Encore and My Music Radio, the money can be invested in expanding those two stations?

Cambridge 105 Radio will continue to develop in the City and we plan to further improve the service we offer to the people who live here.

Oh and by the way it is "Star Radio Cambridge" NOT Star FM Cambridge as wrongly written in the title of this thread

Star FM started in 1993 as small scale commercial radio in Slough so the term has been round for a long while. It was meant to locally relate to the Observatory shoping centre where the studios were and the Mars chocolate factory. But UKRD rolled it out as a good radio name to other areas where there us no local reference.

Hope in Cambridge both Star and 105, plus the minimux, continue and thrive.
Also My Music and Encore stay on the minimux.
At least Star Cambridge did not become Breeze like many other local FM com1mercial stations.
