You didn't. He didn't say you did. You shouldn't be so quick to either insult or feel insulted.
Indeed. And you're right in thinking that I wouldn't get a sensible answer. I thought I would try anyway, but just got an insult in return.
If I didn't insult him then why does he say so in the quote above. Are you alright.

It has to be the most hideous thing I've seen written here since being chided by Ash for using the apparently horrible and inflammatory word ' influx'.
Anyway...
Flouncing fatcats = Trough, rough, ugh.

You've not followed the conversation, the poster was trying to deny that "trough" was an insult. I make no comment as to whether the insult is justified or not, indeed, explained that truth is no defence in this matter.
I followed the conversation, people were raising objections and queries relating to use of the word 'trough' being used to describe a dummy-spitting official and anything following on from that is merely an alternative wording of "so what?".

Just thinking about this and it occurs to me that the new Ambassador has a cast iron position because if he resigns as well before the negotiations get underway that will be a crisis for the Government

So if he asks what Number 10's plans are they'd better well tell him !

Well ye have decided to get off the bus, you're not getting a ticket refund or any special allowances for using the service so long. You'll be given scraps and with your intent on leaving you'll have no recourse.
The irony of somebody from Ireland, a country so well and truly mugged by the ECB, Commission and Merkel, is extraordinary!

So the Civil Service is lying when it says he did not ask for or get a psyoff?

Given his age, I expect he will have a nice fat civil service pension to fall back on.

So pensions are also now a bad thing if 'the wrong person' gets them? Don't worry though, give the Tories a few years of post Brexit and you will be waiting til 75 for your pension. 😂

The new EU Ambassador sat alongside a grateful Boris Johnson during a select committee meeting....so they appear to have hit it off.

The problem appears to be with those supposedly negotiating a possible exit from the EU.

Sir Nigel Sheinwald said this week’s resignation of his successor Sir Ivan Rogers was a “real loss” for Britain’s ability to strike a good Brexit deal, and insisted the prime minister needs to set out a clear negotiating position quickly and stop a small team of Downing Street advisers from running all negotiations.

“You’ve got a new ambassador to the EU and there appear to be some tensions between our Brussels office and the department leading the Brexit effort in Whitehall led by David Davis. That clearly is a very very important axis of what should be cooperation,” Sheinwald said.

The word "dummy-spitting" implies that the former ambassador's remarks were childish in some way. Not sure why anyone would think that.

TBH that'll happen no matter who is in government or if we Brexit or not. Anyone under about 50 shouldn't count on there being a state pension in the future, as it'll either require you to be about 120 and/or barely pay for food

I never realised there had to be literal accuracy in these things, what about the toys and prams one, is that to be limited to those commenting about goods transport...?

A normal person will read into either of those phrases a suggestion of childishness. Whilst the phrases aren't meant to be taken literally that is usually the intended implication and will be generallly be the inference taken.

No, they will read 'tantrum' or 'lost temper' 'not-pleased person' or if they are a full-on Deanna Troi 'I am sensing there may be a description of an act or statement of some annoyance here'.

What's wrong with that? If you resign from your job would you expect to lose your pension?
