I think that Leah shoving what looked like a red cake in Amy's face was foreshadowing.

What an absolute ****ing joke. And probably all so that ste can get the kids. Ste must be protected, must get everything he wants, at all ****ing cost. Regardless of whatever he does or however he behaves we are expected to ****ing side with him. Well i'm ****ing sick of it and i'm ****ing sick of him.
apologies i'm absolutely fuming.

It sounds awful. I'm just sick of the deaths. They have no impact anymore. Let's face it, this has been done to keep ste releveant - AGAIN!!! I don't think I've ever seen a character overused to the level he has. I can predict it now. Ste gets framed, spends some time inside, we are meant to feel sorry for him but in the end he is found innocent. He'll also get custody of his kids. Ugh.

Hollyoaks goes from ridiculous to completely absurd yet Birwood STILL somehow manages to keep his job. Just what has he got over channel 4 ?
Amy Barnes is one of the main reasons the show has become more watchable again over the past couple of months.

He lost the plot at EastEnders and never recovered. That man is absolutely loopy and egotistical beyond all comprehension

I'm just surprised that Kirkwood has been in his role for so long. This has got to be his 5th year surely. I've never known a producer to stay more than 3 years.

Channel4 need to realise that he is not the saviour of the show. Admittingly he had a great first stint but his come back on a whole has been overrun with sensationalism. I know it's HO but this kind of level is just ridiculous. I thought jades cancer storyline was great. Also James abuse storyline showed a lot of promise until Kirkwood put its brakes on it. Overall though, it's been a mess, fuelled by affairs and deaths.

I guess in the eyes of channel4 he's the only producer to score awards for the show but in this day and age getting publicly voted award won is a easy task. They don't mean much these days.

The character is a good link to the show's past. But they obviously do not care about that. They tried to kill her off once before, but the producer changed his mind at the last second as fans were angry.

Stupid decision. Did they just bring Amy back for yet another excuse to kill off characters. How the show is not loosing viewers is beyond me.

When people die in Hollyoaks, I just shrug my shoulders and move on to the next episode. There is no shock impact. In EastEnders the fact that Ronnie and Roxy have passed away is still reverberating. I can't believe it, even though I knew months in advance that they were to be killed off.

I am pretty sure it has.

Yep the audience just do not care anymore, why doesnt he get it??
I said last year the show should do a 12 month stint without a single main character death. The audience would then actually feel something and be shocked when someone does die.
Its just unbelievable, what is happening to our soaps ffs!

I thought it was on the cards as DS did mention the actress was studying neuroscience and she has 3 years to go. She obviously agreed to come back for a limited period. Unfortunately it looks like Ste will get the kids. That character is a waste of space and shouldn't be in charge of kids. What on earth happened to hi serious illness?

Even if the actress can't stay long term, there was no reason to kill off Amy.... death is not the only way to write a character off a show. It's disgusting that Kirkwood is killing off Amy, leaving the kids orphans and in the custody of an irresponsible trainwreck like Ste. Ugh.

I don't watch Hollyoaks anymore but I am VERY disappointed by this storyline.

Hollyoaks needs all the long-term characters it can get and Amy is certainly one of them.

Real, real shame and a stupid move.

Disappointing if true.

What is annoying about the article is that it says they confirm her death but then hollyoaks say they are not commenting on it so how can the article confirm it if Hollyoaks aren't?

How the hell has Ste lasted this long? He was good in the past, but the last 3 years has been abysmal. Seems like Kirkwood is sticking with HO for the long haul (no other show would have him) so more Ste.

Of all the long term character he needs to be axed. People said Ronnie and Roxy went round in circles on EastEnders, but that looked like child's play compared to how utterly wretched Ste is on HO.

Oh ffs I didn't even realise they'd been that many! Gone way beyond a farce now.

And then the "spokesman" comes out with the usual " the village will be in shock" rubbish when infact no they won't be shocked because there's a death every f***ing fortnight!!! Like they'd be shocked anymore in a village that's had about 6 serial killers in it already.

And like others have said, it'll be ALL about Birkwood's little pet Ste. His blatant favouritism of this character just shouldn't be allowed

According to that only 21 characters were killed off in the first 10 years. There were 23 deaths in 2015 / 2016 alone .

I'm sick to death of the Ste show, the character gets storyline after storyline and gets more and more tedious each time. Amy is a good character but like every other character who is near Ste, they are ruined and become tedious and run around him all the time.

Here is how the story will probably go:

Ste will be arrested we will probably watch Harry campaign for his release
Ste will go back on the drugs
Starry will be break up
Killer revealed Leah will be it, won't be revealed to most of the characters.
Dead character will probably get the blame.
Starry will marry
Ste gets back kids
Ste has an affair probably with James and Starry break up
Ste gets a new 'dark' storyline

The show seemed to be turning a corner, but since Jade's death it's plummeted to new depths of affairs, deaths, blackmail and terrible plots.

I'm particularly annoyed that the James abuse storyline was completely dropped. You can't introduce a great storyline which draws people's interest, and then kill by ignoring it for months. Bah.

Oh great, ANOTHER Whodunnit Storyline!

I am sick to death of everyone getting killed off. They are going to Ste the main focus again (Which I'm Dreading) and they will make him the Main Suspect, but it will likely be Leah!

Kirkwood Has To Go!!!

So many storylines just lose their momentum as they're off screen for months, you get a few episodes of the abuse storyline and then suddenly we don't see James for weeks and when we finally do, it's just him pinning after John Paul. The McQueen abuse storyline was the same, and they all go off screen for the sake of a new serial killer, a new affair and mostly for Ste.

The part I am least looking forward to about this storyline is Ste's inevitable false arrest, where we will have to endure months of him wallowing in his own self pity, whilst the viewers are supposed to be rooting for him.

Really? She's studying neuroscience? Good on her. Maybe she can tell us what's going on in Birkwood's empty head.
