Here we are all critical of Birkwood and his gazillionth stupid choice... but on Facebook most people seem happy that Amy is being killed off. The general public (twitter, Facebook) is almost always in disagreement with DS, maybe that's why Birkwood's reign is allowed to go on and on and on... people will accept everything.

I often find the most popular characters on Twitter are the ones I like least on the show. So not surprised.
Twitter also always seems to lap up most, if not anything Hollyoaks does. No matter how stupid or repetitive it is viewed by other fans elsewhere like on DS.

I don't CURR.

Actually, I do. I've never been a fan of Amy, but surely this will mean that Ste will get full custody if the kids then we will never see them again.

Yawn.

They should of learned it is a mistake to kill off your long-standing popular characters. They made a massive one with Steph. 10 years more of potential drama in exchange for 10 minutes of sensational drama.

This is why I gave up on the show in August.
I've only watched a couple episodes since (purple because of Jude) but I haven't seen anything since October Halloween. And i'm quite glad I haven't.

I'm 110% certain it's Leah killing Amy. It will be a massive whodunnit dragged on for the year (which they did say) and will be revealed in the anniversary week in October.
Totally not seen this done on another soap before!

Honestly, what a mess. When I watch old 2011/2012 episode i just sigh in disbelief that i used to love this show inside and out. The memories i had with it and with other people and now look at what it is now.

Honestly, if someone form C4/Lime Pictures is reading this. GET KIRKWOOD OUT.
Before he honestly kills this show and gets it cancelled, which is honestly near.

These people who comment this stuff are the ones who root for Starry and Harry topless scenes. Aka 12 year old fangirls.

I am absolutely gutted about this

I remember being really happy when I read she was back on a full-time permanent basis earlier last year.... and then I read the current article about killing her off... and felt wretched. I can understand if Ashley Slanina-Davies didn't want to stay long-term because of her course, but it does seem killing her off is highly unnecessary. She could easily leave without another added death toll to Hollyoaks.

I can only hope on two things: a massive twist and she isn't really dead (unlikely) or the storyline plays out really well.... Again, unlikely, as it will involve a lot of Ste (again, Amy sacrificed for his own story) and Ryan (Duncan from Blue - who I find is highly overrated by TPTB).

I just hope none of my other favourite characters are killed off this year!

Rant over

I think there's only one worse outcome than Leah being killed by Amy; it's Leah, but HOs staff decide "too many" viewers have guessed it's her, so they re-write it and make the killer someone that makes no sense just for shock value. (Reportedly what happened with Dodger turning out to be Nico's father)

Hmm well it's only 4th Jan so I'm afraid I don't hold out much hope of none of your favourites being killed off this year

As (like in most real-life tiny villages) there's roughly two deaths per month chances are one of your faves will be brown bread by April

Excellent post Rain.

The main problem with Amy is that all her stories revolve round Ste and have done for a long time now. But we know that she does work away from Ste, but her death will be a bit part in 'The Ever Increasingly Tiresome Adventures of Ste Hay'.

No doubt the aftermath will focus on how Ste copes, his relationship of Harry, and yet another spiral into drink and drugs again. The kids will be packed off to Mike's, with no reaction from him now losing both of his daughters, and once again the show will revolve round Ste.
Now you mention it Jimmy, I am dreading Amy's passing more for continued excessive Ste coverage than for not seeing her gorgeous hair anymore. Well, gorgeous when she isn't wearing a hair clip.

I have only watched since July but this show has alot of deaths. Nico I understand. Why Joe Amy and Celine? There was literally no point of killing Celine .
Cameron thought it would avoid her spilling the beans that he caused the fire which killed Nico and indirectly Joe. He overlooked that the video is still on her laptop and could be found by a relative or even by DS Armstrong.

Even if the actress can't stay long term, there was no reason to kill off Amy.... death is not the only way to write a character off a show. It's disgusting that Kirkwood is killing off Amy, leaving the kids orphans and in the custody of an irresponsible trainwreck like Ste. Ugh.
While Ashley made it known that she is studying at Uni, it looks as though they brought her back just to kill her off, thus closing Ashley's connection with Hollyoaks.

Just a thought. Just before Amy leaves, can she have an affair with Darren? Then the affair would be between characters played by an actor and an actress both called Ashley.

She'll probably get Silased! And he'll get away with murder again.
This is probably a better ending than how it really turns out

I don't watch the show as I feel it's way OTT and has a fair few hammy actors.

The reason why Birkwood keeps a job is CH4 boss Jay Hunt. This is a woman who has ran the channel into the ground and spent most of its budget on Bake-Off. Until she is sacked or resigns then I think Birkwood will go.

If only it was that wooden plank Cameron getting killed off. That one's long overdue. Hated the character from the start. He needs to go now.

No doubt another serial killer will replace Cameron once he's killed off... I swear there is a serial killer factory out there somewhere churning all these killers out.

It's Hollyoaks law that there should be at least one or two serial killers living in the village. Not to mention the dozen other casual murderers you have walking around.

Why bring Amy back to kill her off only a few months later?
I doubt she dies. There will very likely be a twist
she might have agreed to return on a temporary basis only

I agree. It make sense considering she turned them down the last time she was asked to be a regular again.
