I've never been interested in Gangster films. My brother loves them, but I've never been that bothered about watching them.

I love gangster films, especially the gritty British ones.

I've never been into Sci-fi.

With the exception of a small number such as 'True Grit' and comedy versions, I've never been interested in westerns.

Another one for sci-fi, I'm in that small group who has no interest in star wars.
As an aside do you have a top 3 'gritty' british gangster films?
I'm struggling a bit to think of many. Get carter, the long good Friday and perhaps layer cake (great film but not sure I'd call it gritty as such).

Fantasy, sci-fi or anything that relies on special effects to mask a poor plot and dodgy acting.

Try the following.

Casino.
Goodfellas.
(Martin Scorsese.)

Pulp Fiction.
Reservoir Dogs.
(Quentin Tarantino.)

These are the type of films you may not like on first watch, but they grow on you. The latter two you will have to watch at least twice, as they are filmed out of sequence.

For me.

Musical films with a few exceptions, e.g. 'My Fair Lady' and 'Calamity Jane'.

But lots of sci-fi and fantasy films don't rely on effects, some of the best movies ever made are sci-fi and fantasy.

Another one for sci-fi (exceptions made for Blade Runner and the original Solaris). I don't like rom-coms, action movies or fantasy films either, and especially dislike Pixar animations (I find the figures creepy, in the same way as I find dolls a bit creepy).

That's why I didn't say "fantasy and sci-fi because they rely on social effects...."

I meant:
a) I don't like fantasy
b) I also don't like sci-fi
c) I also don't like anything that involves special effects to mask a poor plot and dodgy acting.

... and while I'm here, I don't like gangster films or westerns either.

I do not like chick flicks the only time I have ever watched them is in hope of getting some action. The only one I have ever liked is Muriel's Wedding and that is Australian. American ones are always schmaltzy tripe that give women unrealistic expectations of men.

Same here. I'd rather watch a blank screen.

I'd add Gangs of New York to that list, and The Usual Suspects. Good list though.

I rewatched Pulp Fiction the other night, for the first time since I saw it 20 or so years ago. I was astonished by how well it's stood the test of time, and I'd forgotten how funny it is. Still a great movie.

i would think my brother would have all of those, so might ask to borrow them at some point.

Oh. I thought it was a new cross-genre, or 'mash-up', if you will.

I like All Genres

Some are more boring than other Genres though and have only a handful of films I like

Such as Horrors and Musicals, Generally I find these Genres crapy and boring, but there are the odd few films I enjoy
