I've never been a fan of Westerns, or Gangster movies. They all seem the same to me. (Well, not as each other, I can tell the difference between Once Upon A Time In The West and Once Upon A Time In America).

... actually, on reflection, it might be easier if I decided which genre of film I DO like.
I seem to have little liking for many.

There is not any genre I particularly do not like but I don't generally enjoy very violent films or devil style horror films

I'm very rarely bored enough to give musicals, rom-coms or pretentious arty films a chance anymore.

Was never into comic books as a child so when a lot of the characters from those started appearing in films I had and have little interest. That said, it didn't seem to stop other people. Don't think I knew anyone who was into comics as child, and I'd go as far as saying that I don't think American superhero-type comics were very popular in the 80s in this country. Still, plenty of people in their 30s seem to like Batman, Spiderman, XMen films etc. Edit: Just found some relevant sales figures, can't see any of the names that have been made into films on there - https://i0.wp.com/downthetubes.net/w...984.jpg?w=1236 (although that might be British comics only rather than sales of comics in Britain which would explain it )

I've never been interested in Gangster films. My brother loves them, but I've never been that bothered about watching them.

Action. If Vin Diesel or Statham or Van Damme are in it I couldn't watch.

Horror films are of no interest to me. I also generally avoid westerns as they're usually deathly boring.

Rourke has an IRA tattoo, and is on record as saying that he had donated to some causes in Ulster, and to Joe Doherty, an IRA member. As I had younger family members serving in the British Army at that time, that made Rourke a complete cretin to me. I also don't like Sci-Fi, or movies about war ships. |

With the exception of a small number such as 'True Grit' and comedy versions, I've never been interested in westerns.
![]() I also have little time for war films. ETA: Worse than any, though, is the current monopolisation of cinema by superhero/comic book films, children's films for adults I call them. I avoid any of that like the plague - which means I've not watched Film4 at all throughout the Christmas period! |

I'm not in the least interested in Harry Potter either, it seems the Xmas tv schedules are pretty much wall to wall HP films these days unfortunately 😐
Got to add - I avoid 007 films with a passion. Haven't watched one since 1973. |

Dudebro films like The Hangover, Bridesmaids and Superbad. Maybe if I were still 14 then yes but each and every one of them looks like identical drivel.

Musicals - Hairspray Live was on in the BG in the room, How can anyone like a movie that bursts into song every five seconds.
Don`t really have a genre I don`t like apart from Western, but I don`t enjoy Mission Impossible, Indiana Jones to name a few. |

Another one for sci-fi stuff. A couple of colleagues looked at me in horror when I said that I've never seen a Star Wars or Star Trek film/episode.
Not a big fan of horror either although I don't think there's much films in this genre as they used to be back in the day like Nightmare on 13th Street, Evil Dead, etc. Bollywood is another one. |

I don't watch any of those cartoon films like Toy Story, anything like Harry Potter, anything scary or horrible, no ghost stories, no musicals made after about 1965, no gangster films, no period costume dramas, no boys story adventures like seafaring or colonial wars
I like sci-fi, zombie films, political thrillers, comedies but not recent ones Now I think about it I haven't been to the cinema for over 30 years so I'm not really a film fan at all............. and on telly I never sit down to watch a film, I might happen upon a film whist channel surfing and think it looks interesting then watch the rest of it but I very rarely see a whole film from the beginning. When I've seen bits of a film I might watch the whole thing the next time it's on |
