Obviously there needs to be some degree of planning and arrangements for contributions towards infrastructure - though it's in the developers own interest to arrange this without government intervention as no one is going to live in houses that aren't connect to transport/electricity/water etc. The market will route out developers that don't plan properly.
e.g. so that the nearby schools can expand to accommodate new children, so that the roads aren't jammed, etc |

Yes, as ever, the Tories are lining their mates' pockets with public money and looking after their own kind. What the country desperately needs are good, solid affordable council houses not flashy come-ons to young Tories most of whose mummies and daddies can easily fund their property requirements. This scheme stinks.

I am not a Trump fan, but his promise to drain the swamp is something we badly need in this country.

Absolutely, will it be conditional that it is first time, owner occupiers only? Of course not. I am not a Trump fan, but his promise to drain the swamp is something we badly need in this country. There are too many snouts in the trough, too many politicians looking after their buddies with taxpayers money.
His actual cabinet picks meanwhile go totally against it. It is quite literally the richest, most privileged cabinet in American history. So many billionaires, so many people who have "paid to play". Plenty of career politicians in the mix also Even if they're not a billionaire, they're a nutjob. The (billionaire) education secretary hates public education, the new EPA administrator wants to get rid of the EPA, even the energy secretary (usually very well educated, probably a physicist) is someone without any relevant training or experience. But he did do a module called "meats" and got a C! |

available for purchase by qualifying first-time buyers only “Qualifying first-time buyer” means an individual who— (a) is a first-time buyer, (b) is at least 23 years old but has not yet reached the age of 40, and (c) meets any other criteria specified in regulations made by the Secretary of State (for example, relating to nationality). (4) “First-time buyer” has the meaning given by section 57AA(2) of the Finance Act 2003. The purchaser, or (if more than one) each of the purchasers, is a first-time buyer who intends to occupy the residential property as the purchaser’s only or main residence, The buyer cannot let the home for the first 5 years. If the buyer sells within 5 years they must sell at 20% below market value to a first time buyer. Quote:
