Confused over R&R death - EE

Not being a swimmer myself I am left wondering how swimmers can go to the bottom of a swimming pool and not come up, did Roxi get caught in some filter or something and Ronnie tangled in her dress - can someone explain it to me

combination of drink and drugs caused it .. the whole underwater bit was badly done as you couldn't see what was going on with RnR

Maybe that enormous wedding cake was particularly dense and heavy.

The body will sink and then float, hence why bodies appear in rivers and lakes sometime later. It was all murky but the final shot showed them floating, Roxy face up. Grim.

I'm unsure as to the physics, biology as to wht a body will at first sink and then float after death.

But, bodies aren't naturally designed to float. Any weight, including live human bodies, going into water will sink to the bottom, sooner or later unless action is taken to stop it. With swimming, that action is moving your legs and arms to stay afloat (treading water) or moving if. Should anything prevent that, your limbs not working properly because of cold, tiredness, being intoxicated, losing consciousness, then a person will sink to the bottom, their lungs will fill with water as they breathe and they'll drown.

With Roxy we don't know what happened. She might have got csught pn somethong, might have hit her head but might just as easily have passed out due to the alcohol and drugs, or the water might have been too cold, or she just didn't have the strength and coordination to swim.

Plus that wedding dress must weigh a ton when wet

I was wondering whether Roxy was a suicide - we all expected Lee but it wasn't him and then she goes and chucks herself in a swimming pool, but that didn't really make sense as Ronnie was the only person she really loved so can't see that happening.

It was all very badly shot. Rubbish ending for two huge characters.

It couldn't possibly have been a suicide unless she had a history of being a non swimmer and even then hotel pools are usually shallow; if they have a deep end it's only a few metres of it and easy to get out of.

The whole scenario seemed to me ridiculous, given that this time last year we had two characters come up from the bottom of a lake and both survived. If the lake hadn't been used already they'd definitely have gone with it this time - Roxy could have tipped off the bridge because she was tipsy and that would have been a million times more realistic.

I think it was made quite clear what happened to Ronnie. Her dress twisted around her and over her face, trapping her legs and arms so she couldn't swim properly, it will also, as you say, have weighed her down. That dreaa alone would havemade it virtually impossibke to swim, even if sober.

It's why one of the first things you are taught when learning to swim (or at least I was) is how to tread water and get any heavy clothes you are wearing off whilst in the water in the event of an emergency like capsizing, being swept out to sea. Because clothes weigh you down and make swimming harder.

But you're taught how to do it with pyjamas, not ruddy wedding dresses!

It's Roxy drowning so quickly that is slightly.more mysterious but I think the alcohol and drugs will have been the reason.
