Haywire date and time on Samsung SGH E-900
On 1 Jan the date and time on my Samsung SGH E-900 suddenly went haywire. It reset itself to 01/01/2005 and will not accept today's date, i.e. 03/01/2017. (I have it in DD/MM/YYYY format but the behaviour is the same with other formats.) It will accept 03/01/2016 but soon afterwards resets itself to 01/01/2005.
Neither can it keep time - it keeps randomly resetting itself to times like 00:22, 00.40. This is a huge problem as it's my main alarm clock. Anyone know what's going on, or have any fix to suggest? Thanks! |

How long have you had the phone? It sounds as if the software hasn't been programmed to cope with 2017 and so its jumping back to the year it was first made.
Not much you can do except see if Samsung have a software update for the phone, otherwise you may need to replace it. |

JChamier, thanks for your reply.
I got the phone sometime in 2010 but it was not brand new. It was a swap with someone who preferred a Nokia (which I had and was happy to exchange). I thought it might be a year old, as their contract had just expired. If you're right there's nothing for it but to buy a new phone. How very disappointing! I love this old phone as it is so small, and so simple to use. I only want to make phone calls, send texts and have it tell time & ring the alarm. Why would they make a date expire like that? I don't see how it helps them. |
