Coats for the particular season go on the hooks in the hallway, the others are on the inside of the storage cupboard door, where an ironing board also hangs hooked to the rest of the coat hooks I put on the door (irrelevant I know ).

Shoes go in a box on a shelf in my bedroom, which is so large it's also a storage room. The shoes I wear during the winter are by my bed or on my feet!

Big coat and shoe closet as you walk through the door. The coats we use every day tend to end up on the bannister though.

I've got a huge entrance hall with a purpose built cloakroom so all the coats got in there and shoes on a shoe rack. To the back of the house there's an inside tack room so all boots, wellies etc go in there, along with heavy outdoor jackets.

Fortunately I have a pretty old house so there's a purpose in-built closet right next to the front-door

The only trouble is, is that is has a couple of glass bricks in the wall giving it some light where none i s needed and these can get quite some condensation on them if it's cold outside.

So if I have too many coats there's not enough air circulation and thus get mold forming, requiring a hefty scrub down every Spring
Get a vent cut in the closet door so that air from your hallway can circulate into the closet - that could help.

On topic - I have 18 coats and jackets , and they are all lined up on a 5' clothing rail in my back bedroom.

Coats get hung on hooks in the hall. Shoes can be anywhere. I'm a bit of an Imelda when it comes to shoes/boots, so while there are about 30 pairs on shoe racks, there are also lots on the bedroom floor, on the stairs, in living room and the spare bedroom.

Despite this, I never trip over my own shoes. Mr Lakie only has about 4 pairs, but I'm always tripping over his.

I've got a big Narnia-type wardrobe that belonged to my nan. It also lives in the land of Spare Oom We use it for the coats we're not currently wearing and the everyday coats hang in the hall.

I seem to be the only person in the house that actually puts the coats back in the wardrobe

Coats go on the hooks under the stairs. Shoes go on the shoe rack we have. Or, if you're my girlfriend, you just walk around high-kicking them and leaving them where they land so that your boyfriend stands on them when he goes for a pee in the middle of the night.

Sorry, little insight into my life there...

Fancy coats in my closet, everyday coats (depending on season) hung up in the hallway.

We have a coat hanger by the door. Spare shoes are kept in the cupboard under the stairs, along with just about every piece of junk imaginable.

I have a walk-in cupboard under the main staircase that was converted into a cloakroom. A cloakroom in the more traditional sense, i.e. a room for the keeping of cloaks and not a toilet. That's where the coats and jackets live.
Snap. We have one of these too. Ours doesn't have a door though so the cats have their scratching post in there as well.

Everyday coats go on the coat rack by the front door. Others on the back of the bedroom door. Shoes go on the floor of the pantry, except for wellies which stay in the porch.

I usually keep some on the banister and also on the coat stand in the hall. That stand also houses scarves. At the moment I have my winter coats out but when spring arrives I'll put them away and get my lighter spring/summer jackets out from the downstairs wardrobe.

Everyday coats are on hangers in a cupboard under the stairs. Best coats in wardrobes upstairs.
Shoes in a rack in a walk in wardrobe in bedroom. All my best and seldom worn shoes of which there are many in the bottom of 5 wardrobes in boxes.
Another small cupboard under the stairs is where my husband chucks his everyday shoes .I don't like any of my shoes in there. It really does need a clear out.
