New material out on Friday. Assume this will be a single to download and stream, with his third album to follow. Great news. I preferred his last album X to his first one, +. Third album confirmed as being called divide!

What on earth is he going to call his fifth album when he gets there? I hope he doesn't start going down the algebra route, because there'd be a lot of letters to get through.

Looking forward to this though. Always did like Ed Sheeran. He has something that sets him apart from other acoustic singer-songwriters and I've never been able to figure out what it was. It's good though.

He rips off Van Morrison really well perhaps?

I thought he was ok but then I saw his fame game shame of hanging with bieber one direction and co . I thought he was a serious songwriter but turns out his just another dude trying to be cool.
Hopefully the music is more grown up .

.
He may not even call his 4th album minus. Adele's said that her next album won't be called her age.

Perhaps Sheeran could take the concept off Adele and call his next album "12" to indicate the average age and IQ of his fans?

How rude. I'm much older than 12 and love his music as do many other people. Over 2 million copies of each of his first two albums sold.

PMSL no 12 year old will listen to Ed, is twenties upwards.

I love the hate he gets for being successful. I am not a fan, but good luck to him and all the haters just make me laugh.

The hate is because his music is a tad on the boring side.

But yeah he's made a success for himself, good on him I guess. Not my cup of tea at all though.

You might need to fact check your research, I quite like Ed Sheeran, and it appears that my IQ is quite a bit higher than 12. A lot higher in fact, I definitely think you've been seriously misinformed here.

I'm not 12, nor do I have an IQ of 12. But continue passing your ignorant opinion off as fact.

New single is Shape Of You and it's already No.1 with a big lead on I-Tunes. No.1 for sure next Friday then.

Second track, Castle On The Hill, released too. Could he have No's 1 AND 2?

Shape of You is very dull but I like Castle on the Hill, a bit of nostalgia and anger.

His insufferable blandness maybe?

Love Castle on the hill. He is brilliant. The Shape of you is good and will do really well no doubt.

The first song is so bland and inoffensive it should be called snowflake.
The second song is actually OK for Ed - a bit of a Springsteen vibe, shame the chorus loses all it's guts and goes full on pop.

Shame to see Shape Of You looking likely to be #1 as Castle On The Hill is brilliant by comparison.

Shape Of You just reminds me of the dreadful Don't Wanna Know by Maroon 5...so yeah, figures this would be the more popular of the two tracks. **sigh**

I wonder if Ed Sheeran could pull off a "Bieber" and even end up occupying the top 3 in the UK if another song off his album does well - assuming ÷ is added to Spotify from the start, rather than held back like most albums tend to be.

I genuinely really like "Castle on the Hill" which shocked me, as it's the first Ed Sheeran song I've liked since "You need me I don't need you".

It sounds like he's branching out a bit, so good for him.

Shape Of You sounds more... like something you'd hear in the charts lyrically. I prefer Castle on the Hill although I like both of them. Who knows where they end up by the end of the week even if the former is #1 on iTunes at the moment?

The main hook of Shape of You is reminding me a little of Speeding Cars by Walking on Cars.

Ed Sheeran’s fans will be delighted to listen to his new single “Castle on the Hill” from his upcoming album. The song is about the experiences of Sheeran growing up in his hometown and the milestones he passed during this tumultuous time. It’s about coming back to a place that your heart never really left.
