'Now TV ireland
http://www.boards.ie/ttfthread/2057687591
It appears Sky Ireland is testing a Irish version of Now TV. The only difference a Irish Version needs to be different from the UK version, is to add the RTE player, the TV3 player and TG4 player instead of the ITV Encore player. ITV Encore player is blocked in the Republic of Ireland. 'All4' works mostly ads free on Now TV and its not Geographic blocked. If Sky Ireland releases 'Now TV ireland' this year. This is going to cause mayhem to Virgin Media TV Ireland. Remember, keep your Sky Dish and replace your Sky+ receiver with Freesat Freetime+. I would get 'Now TV ireland', for the Now TV's Entertainment Pass and also to get the Sky Sports Day Pass. The 3pm's live games on Sky Sports 5 Ireland are not covered by a Now TV UK box. Is a 'Now TV ireland' app going to be part of RTEtv's Saorview Connect in 2017? Remember Sky Ireland was part of Saorview's pilot trial between 2007-2008. I was part of that trial. I had 'Sky Sports 1' free for a year. A interesting 2017 maybe! Of course, Sky Store would be part of 'Now TV ireland'. The best Sky TV channel now for TV/Movies content is 'my library' in Sky Store. |

So let me get this right. The BBC allow their live streams to be viewed in Ireland to the Irish public, but RTE won't do the same for the British public? |

Very interesting, and great news for Irish users.
So let me get this right. The BBC allow their live streams to be viewed in Ireland to the Irish public, but RTE won't do the same for the British public? bbctv is free to air on satellite in Ireland and freeview overspill Irish coverage Sky TV ireland has half of the Irish pay tv customers. 'Now TV Ireland' should gain the rest. Now TV UK does work in Ireland as I am using a UK relative's address. Now TV UK is really Sky Go |

RTE, which buys the rights to show programmes to its 5m Irish viewers, could never afford to pay 12x as much for the UK rights to reach those extra 66m. It's economics, not just RTE being awkward. I wonder if N.Ireland Now TV customers will be able to get the Irish NowTV box? |

What I find ridiculous is that you can buy a NowTV Entertainment Pass in Asda, Amazon, Tesco or enter the voucher code on the NowTv website on registering when you get back home. Yet you are still forced to enter your bank details before you are actually registered.
And sky have the cheek to say there is No Contract, No Commitment. |

I know plenty of people who have bought a Now TV box, registered, entered bank details and then never spent another penny - just using it for iPlayer, ITV etc. While I certainly have disagreements with how Sky treat Now TV (no offline downloads, fewer channels than Sky Go etc), I can't fault the registration and bank details at all since one never needs to actually spend any money if they don't want to, and quite honestly, I don't see any pressure to do so either. |
