CS: Property scam - poor pay off?

I was expecting it to come to ahead at Christmas as part of the big storyline. Eileen grows suspicious and decides to investigates, over hears Phelan talking and it all explodes, she disowns Todd, everyone thinks she's in on it she has a break down and.....drama etc.

Instead it seems as if we got the unsatisfactory conclusion of:
"It was the other bloke"
-Was it?
"Yes."
-Oh okay

...and now Phelan's moved on to a blackmail story line. It's hard to believe this is how they intended it to end. It looks as if they liked the character so much that they decided to keep him on beyond what looked likely to be his big exit storyline with the flat scam. Which is fine but it meant that all the time and build up to that angle, which was very entertaining, ended up being a bit of a waste.

Phelans going nowhere - he's still gotta marry Eileen

How pathetic is Eileen. She believes everything Phelan says. If any other character were as slow on the uptake as Eileen is she would be having a right laugh at them.

Storylines are never followed up on Corrie, it's appalling.

Has there been any focus on the money people have lost in the investment? Apart from a couple of "oh know, I've just lost 10k," nothing.

This is supposed to be a working class back street in Machester FFS!

Awful, lazy writing.

I still don't understand why Rita, Sarah and Yasmeen are not phoning the police about where their money and where Vinny is.

As for where they'll live now

With Jenny seemingly moving into Johnny's flat in the future, I guess she won't be bothered about it anymore.

As for Sarah, I guess she, Bethany and Harry will be happy staying at David's for the foreseeable future.

I think you've summed this up very well. It was clearly heading towards a big reveal around Christmas time and Phelan's exit. They must have very suddenly decided to keep him in it with a very poorly thought out, unbelievable plot. The fact hardly any mention has been made about the flat scam and that the police seem to have taken Phelan's word for it all, is completely beyond the realms of feasibility. They've made a mistake with this story line in my opinion.

They've proper shot tbemselves in the foot by keeping him on without any sort of recriminations imo!!

Only a very few diehard fans seem to be enjoying the idea of this new s/l & by the time it reaches a 'conclusion' & the next dreary Phelan scam s/l begins, a once hugely popular character with the potential to have been one of Corrie's classic 'baddies' will have been reduced to either a complete laughing stock or a character no one can be arsed with any longer!!

And some how written into the story that Phelan has miraculously grown a pair of eyes in the back of his head.
How else would he have seen Andy when he attacked him?

Maybe he has notoriously distinctive breath.

I don't see Eileen's wedding going so smoothly.

Kevin and Anna will sabotage it.

What happened to Kevin being blamed for Phelan being hit? That seems to have been dropped as well

No one knows where Vinny is....or Phelan would be after him

I am assuming that Phelan & Vinnie set up a company to build these flats.

I would have thought they would both have been listed as directors of the company.

Therefore if Vinnie did a runner with the money that they fraudulently obtained form would be buyers then the Police would be investing the company rather than the individual.

We all know the Police go for easy targets so they wouldn't waste their time chasing Vinnie so they'd be going after Phelan but it seems that all the locals that he stole from are happy to do Auld Lang Zyne with him in the Rovers.

It's been said that Vinny's shirt can be seen from outer space. If anyone had any sense they would get Simon to send his drone up to see if it can reach the altitude to spot it. Simon should wear a welders mask to shield his eyes just as a precaution.

To put it bluntly, it is just tripe. You wouldn't think that most of the street got swindled with the way they are getting on with their lives and are fine with Pat still living next door.

I haven't been a big fan of Eileen in the past but it is ridiculous how stupid she is being made to be. A day after finding out about Vinny's deception she took Pat back in, and is now planning to marry him anyway. I don't know if we are actually meant to care about her as a character or not.

Innocent characters have been mistrusted more than Phelan.

This annoysme so much, why take so long to build up a s/l and then end it like a damp squib. Don't corrie writers understand that we give our time in watching corrie and become invested in the storylines - to end them like this is cheating the fans.

Exactly, and it is happening all the time now - the most recent being Mary finding her son - only to end in a fizzle, could have been so good.

Quite - so why is Phelan going after Kevin?

Yet Phelan made it quite clear at the time of the scam that he was only with Eileen in order to get at Jason's money, he was happy enough to disappear into the sunshine and leave her with nothing and to take the blame. Also I still don't understand Todd's intended roll in the scam, I got the feeling that he was really in on it in order to keep tabs on the scam and at the 11th hour bust it wide open, but was never really sure. Hard to believe that he would rob both his mother & brother.
The writing really does need to make more sense as well as following through the S/Ls

Something tells me the streets resident sleuth Sopheh is gonna uncover the crime when she's back from Miami.

Weatherfield police don't seem to be the brightest sparks anyway, a few drops of blood about the place meant Maria was a murderer and David's little joyride that nearly killed his daughter and fried Anna's legs has barely been investigated.
