I saw a light in the sky last night..
I saw a light in the sky last night it was bright and moving a bit it was there for maybe five minutes then it just disappeared,
I was looking online and the only thing I could find in London (where I live) about lights in the sky last night was this but it didn't look like the moon or Venus or Mars . I feel like Im going mad tbh.

Perhaps it was one of those Chinese lanterns that float upward?
I once saw a couple of those and I'd never heard of them before, so I thought I'd seen a UFO

Clearly this was an alien visitation. What other explanation can there be?

I think it was Venus, I have just had this conversation. On the 28th December it followed me all the way from Watford Gap.

The aircraft may be many miles away from the airport and from the viewer, often high up in one of the holding patterns (stacks), but they can be very visible. From here in Crawley I often see those heading into Gatwick when they are way off down over East Sussex around the Crowborough area. |

Talking about lights in the sky, I remember one cloudy night during a local blackout many years ago the clouds were lighting up as people up in the fields were using torches, I thought it was slow lightening which gave me an idea, I had a powerful torch of my own and deliberately shone it to the sky and people were thinking it was lightning a few nights later. Mischievous fun

Very often, aircraft landing lights will appear at night as a bright light when it is coming towards you, but then it turns slightly and the light fades down to nothing.

Odd you should say that as I saw a light too last night, and hub said it was a star, but it didn't look like a star to me, and too close to be a star. It was closer to the Moon, and had blue rays one side of it, white rays on other side, so got my camera and zoomed in close, and saw it as a round object, so zoomed in again and it certainly was round, and can only think it was a planet! Took some photos but haven't looked at them yet. Maybe what you saw was the rays of it.
Or if not, then the US have got a new spy plane on a test fly ![]() Those rays you saw were probably distortions in your vision, something akin to diffraction spikes possibly caused by your eyelashes. And the planet, which was Venus, wouldn't have appeared round if your camera was in focus. Venus appears just over half-full at the moment.
