Hi all.
Does anyone here remember the cult TV programmes of the 1960s called 'The Prisoner' ?
It was a 17 episode series and starred Patrick McGoohan.

Yes Catweazle, I remember it well, and loved it. It was so much more thoughtful and deep than most telly.
I have the Bluray HD set of the 17 episodes which looks really good.

Do you have a favourite episode?

2 episodes come to mind.. 'Many Happy Returns' and 'Fallout' but I loved the whole series.

Have been thinking of visiting the location in Wales... Must do that one day

Some episodes, maybe all of them, are available on YouTube.

Be seeing you!

I went there in the mid 90s, shortly after the Channel 4 repeat of the show (which was my first exposure to the series). Lovely place but a little different to how it appears on the show. Well worth a day trip regardless.

Yes, the complete series is available on YouTube... at the moment! ... Don't know whether they'll be deleted in time though!

The episode where there was an election sticks out.. It was called Free For All.

There was a quite recent remake of the series which I didn't watch.

Yes, I must get up there soon... Maybe this year.
They do accommodation too.. A bit pricey, but I may do a long weekend

Fans of The Prisoner will probably find this episode of Danger Man (which also starred Patrick McGoohan) of particular interest:

Yes, it was a 6 episode mini series in 2009 starring Ian McKellen.
Wasn't my cup of tea though.

The early series of Danger Man was only 25 minutes per episode, so it had simple stories told rapidly. The later series had 50 minute episodes which allowed for more complex stories, better character development and more build up of atmosphere and tension.

But the episode I linked to was rather special, as you'll see.

Big Finish have done a very good full cast audio re-imagining of the series. Before listening to it I was sceptical that any audio could do it justice, but it was surprisingly good. , captured the style and quirkiness of the original.

You should defiantly go, went with the wife when we spent a week in Snowdonia in 2015.

It is an amazing place, even more so if you like The Prisoner and Doctor Who.

One of the repeated quotes on the Prisoner by the ever -changing No '2, in response to No '6 saying 'who is No '1?', was... 'You are No'6'!
It only takes a comma though, to change the meaning of the answers.

Who is No' 1? ...... You are Number 6

Who is No' 1? ...... You are, Number 6 !!

Just a thought

An all-time classic. There was a late night showing of 'Girl Who Was Death' on HTV in 1982 which my parents taped for me purely because we were going to Portmeirion in Spring '83. (Not the best episode to showcase the place, as it turned out.) I blinkin' loved it. And Portmeirion too. Got a Penny Farthing Badge from the shop/No.6's house. Watched the whole run on Channel 4 and was completely hooked. Still love it to pieces (cough) years later.

On initial viewing as a kid 'The Schizoid Man' was probably my favourite. Now I'd say it was 'Dance of the Dead' or 'Many Happy Returns', but heck, I really like most of it.

RE: Dangerman, if you're a Prisoner fan I think as well as 'Colony 3', the OP would also like 'The Ubiquitous Mr. Lovegrove' and 'The Paper Chase'.(McGoohan directed the latter.) Very 'Prisoner-esque' and quirky stuff. It's generally a darn good series in it's own right.

Enjoyed my visit to,portmerion .

Although the original run was before I was born it's something I feel I have grown up with.

As other have said I am sure itv ran it through the regions in the early 80s

Didn't channel 4 show it as well.

Also sci-fi channel maybe showed it at some time as well
