BBC one Sunday 7 January.

As far as I am concerned, Tom Hardy can do no wrong! It won't be cosy!

I usually don't go anywhere near the main channels Saturday nights for 20+ years, but I'll give this a go, it looks handsome in the trailers.
Doesn't matter if it's daft, I suspect the whole thing will barrel along at a pace and Tom Hardy does quality scenery eating when required, so I'll probably enjoy it.

Saturday? Did someone bang their head? Looks every inch like a Sunday evening blockbuster.

Or the notorious porn film from the early 80s?

That's why I assumed it was.

I think I read somewhere that its a new BBC policy to shake up the rather lame Saturday line up with dramas. Part of that was dropping the lotto draw and the half-arsed show built around it.

Explains a lot. I often have the radio on Saturday evenings...that Lotto programme is dire.

Sunday is a better slot for this...but then, who watches in real time these days?

Indeed. While I may think that 9pm is a the right time to watch a prime time drama I often watch the one I recorded earlier in the week.

(some prime time dramas such as the Bronte one and the BBC4 scandi-noir series OTOH make for an excellent matinee watch)

I was staggered when I saw that BBC1 was showing hopefully decent drama on a Saturday night.

Let's hope it's good....and therefore the start of good things to come!

The Beeb has said that it wants to get big name and big budget drama back on BBC1 on Saturday nights.

It looks really good in the trailers. Fingers crossed it's as good as it looks. Some good stuff on telly at the moment, for a change.

Taboo - BBC One series from Tom Hardy, Ridley Scott and Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight

Steven Knight was on beeb breakfast this morning. The original idea came from Tom Hardy and his dad and they called Knight in to write it. He said that Ridley Scott was very involved in the edit and has not just put his name to it.

It has quality written all over it. Should be good.
