Anyone Else Sick To The Back Teeth Of The Media's Daily Obsession With Brexit?.....
I certainly am and was ages ago and I cannot believe how the media and political programmes keep on discussing Brexit on a daily basis (whenever they're on) as if discussing the same old stuff over and over again is going to bring forward the whole process and their recycled questions!
I so wish the Daily Politics, News Night, radio phone ins, esp LBC all gave it a rest with brexit and just waited for Article 50 to be triggered and then report as and when there is any new developments rather than endless "discussions" and repeating the same old stuff over and over again. Agree/Disagree? |

I agree we need a break.
Can't we just park it until the government issues it's working plan and and article 50 bill in March. Let's have some news when there is some. We could do with fewer multiple daily engineered threads as well. It's like Groundhog Day. Brexit will kill chickens and cause cows to stop producing milk type nonsense. |

Your back-teeth had better get used to it. Brexit will, rightly, dominate our lives for the foreseeable future but it will be consigned to the dustbin of history in due course.

Its like expecting a Government to implement all of its manifesto goals in an instant once they win power. It doesn't work like that but the media seem to think if they keep on raising the issue and talking about the same old boring nonsense over and over again that they will pressurise the Government into fast forwarding it all but they so won't so they should shut it basically! |

Given what's at stake if we let the brexiteers get their hard brexit, no, I am not sick to the death of this war we're waging on them.
Every single day should be devoted to ensuring brexit never happens. If you cannot see the damage it's already doing to our economy then I pity you. At the very least hard brexit needs to be stopped from ever happening. And I don't care if every single person in the country gets bored stiff in the process. The end goal being achieved is the prize. |

I have no interest how it turns out. Que sera sera, it is the most boring effing concept ever.
Something else needs to turn up to deflect from the interminable boredom it induces. I hope they start fracking in Westminster and Islington.

I can avoid the media (and often do) there isn't much to discuss until things actually start happening. With this forum becoming a daily post-a-thon of articles that are nothing more than confirmation bias for the thread starters and people stating personal opinions as facts, I find myself avoiding this place more and more too.

The end goal being achieved is the prize. Australia's High Commisioner said his country does fine without FTA's and so will we! When we joined the then EC we were suffering from the continued economic consequences of World War 2 when Britain was left bankrupt and was dependent on loads from America to keep us going. Amazingly enough our deficit levels seemed to be much lower up until the 1980's too. Nothing new is going to happen until Article 50 is triggered and even then it will take ages so don;t think by talking about the same old boring stuff day in day out is going to bring about anything, it won't. Even if you got your wish in getting Brexit reversed, Brexiters would want a 3rd referendum. |

Given the amount of attention Brexit gets both in the wider media and in DS you might assume that the whole of our economy and political purpose was to do with the EU. I recall during the campaign the government saying the 12% of our GDP was concerned with EU/UK trade, which means of course that 88% of it isn't. Yet presumably after we become amongst that group of sad nations that struggle along not being in the EU (how do they manage it, I ask sarcastically), we will still trade with the EU. So even if UK/EU trade is down by 10% or 20%, which I doubt, our total GDP might fall by a percent or two. Yet listening to Remoaners it's like we plan to leave the planet and trade with the EU from alpha Centauri. For goodness sake, media and collective choir of remoaning minnies, get a grip!

Nope.
It is one of the biggest issues that we're going to face, if not the biggest. I'd expect nothing less than unceasing wall to wall coverage. I accept that Brexiters don't want to see facts that contradict their feelings. I guess they could watch Cbeebies or something? No news on there. |

Nope. It's the only issue in town. It drives politics / economics. Media are quite rightly placing it as the factor that is driving decisions that impact our lives. Jobs / Cost of Living being the key ones for most people.

There is other aspects to politics to why I tune in/record. I have resorted to fast forwarding programmes if I'm watching them on record when they are talking the same old nonsense over and over again. What's the point? They discuss NOTHING NEW! There isn't nothing new to discuss until Article 50 is triggered and even then it will take ages to see the final deal but if it comes quicker, good!

Considering that Brexit is arguably the biggest issue that has occurred since WWII, we should not underestimate the effects, both good and bad, that it will have on this generation, and future generations, for the next decade or more.
The one thing that is certain' is that there will be change. Some change will be for the better, some change will be for the worse. But most of the effects of Brexit will be massive. The media have every right to keep Brexit in the forefront of the daily news,' and people have every right to express their thoughts and concerns. It's not going to stop. It's only just started. |

Wel Brexit is pretty much the only political story in the UK at the moment, so its obvious its therefore going to dominate the politics forum here, and political tv and radio shows.
