After tonight's episode and the recent 'toning down' of Tracy Barlow is Kate's plan to turn Jenny into Corrie's new 'Queen of Mean'. Any thoughts?

She was so horrible! I liked her and felt sorry for her when she came back to the street, what a personality transplant. Nasty, nasty. I'm glad Johnny gave her marching orders after what she did.

They say a Leopard never changes its spots, so it could only be a matter of time before bad Jenny made another appearance.

I think she is better than Tracy tbh.

And I like seeing Eva and Aidan punished.

What bad things that Jenny Bradley do in her original stint? I'd obviously heard of her beforehand, but my only viewing experience of her is when she came back a couple of years ago.

I have to admit I enjoy Jenny as she seems multi dimensional as a character. We have seen her vulnerable and also cunning. It shows people aren't all good or all bad. Johnny is stupid as Aiden is a cheat and yet he allows this to happen.

Am pretty sure Rita gave her some money and she did a runner with it-or was that Sharon, Rita's foster kid?

I know Jenny made Rita's life Hell as Jenny felt Rita was responsible for Alan Bradley's death.

Yes. I like Jenny I think she's an interesting character but she is a horrible woman and always has been.

That's right Jenny stole from Rita and did a runner. You had to laugh at her line the other night when she said she was 'like a daughter to Rita and treat Rita better than most daughters treat their real mothers'. In actual fact she has treat Rita appallingly over the years and its a mystery why Rita even puts up with her, she really is a deluded, self absorbed lunatic who lives in her own little world.

I agree. I like her character very much. You can feel pity for her and then despise her the next moment. She displays at times someone whose still suffering from mental health issues. She does share certain traits with Tracy. Both grew up during the same period though Jenny is about 5 years older I believe. For both status is very important and both would be ruthless in obtaining it. That said I like the new slant. Tracy is being morphed into a sort of ruthless 'mother' head of the new male dominated Barlow household leaving the way clear for Jenny to give a new take on the Corrie resident bitch

That's not quite how I remember it Dr K!!

As I recall Jenny wanted Rita to lend her the money to set up a salon but Rita refused!!
Jenny was then quite abusive & made out Rita owed her because of Alan's death!!
Rita then wrote her a cheque for I think £5K & told her to sling her hook & not come back!!

Anyone else remember exactly how it went as the exact details are a little hazy for me (KK?) but I don't think she actually stole from Rita!!

For me Jenny was a fascinating character from day one when her Mum was killed in an accident & everything about her character has been moulded from her tragic past!!
Tracy on the other hand has had no such reason to be like she is & seems to be a bitch just for the sake of being a bitch!!
For the OP's benefit I'll leave it at that with my criticism of Tracy... this time!!!!

Power has gone to her head, just because she is dating Johnny, who has shares in the Factory.

Her face was a picture when Johnny announced he was going to give his share of the factory to Aiden and retire, the poor little gold-digger worried that her meal ticket was going to run out.

Ha! Thanks very much. You remembered our options on Tracy Barlow are quite different. I just enjoy characters that are unused predictable and interesting to watch. I like the new twist Kate Oakes is bring to some of the characters on the Street. Not just Jenny and Tracy but people like Mary, Michelle and Maria (your fave I know). The 'drama' is on the up too which can only be good for is all.

I don't like her character, she's too much like a caricature and as for the curling of the lip at every opportunity, it's laughable. I actually prefer Tracy - and I never thought I'd say that.

I've come to the conclusion I probably shouldn't watch soaps as I really don't like the mean characters nor when sometimes nice ones turn nasty. I liked the nicer softer Jenny and hoped she would stay that way and liked her with Jonny too. I didn't want her to return to how she used to be. I get slated on here for not liking Phelan and I didn't like any of the other baddies either, like Hillman or Karl (don't remember his surname). I hate what they've done to Mary and I don't like all the affairs and the fact that no one is ever happy for long. I like the warm, humorous scenes that deal with everyday situations, like between Roy and someone in the café or Norris and Rita in the cabin, or Mary and one of her crazy stories. Corrie isn't what it was and I guess I am in the minority these days in not liking the big headline grabbing storylines driven by baddies. As I said, maybe modern soaps aren't for me.

I just hope they don't turn her into the pantomine 'Baddie' that we all start booing as soon they appear on stage. Jenny has more to offer than that.
She is also great when she is doing her emotional scenes.
I hope Jenny shows some repentence in order that she won't become just the single-dimensional bitch character.

Eva is much the same. She comes and goes as she pleases. She uses the office as and when she likes. She uses the internet in the office to order her Christmas presents. And she is pulling her face at Toyah at every opportunity.

I understand what you're saying but even in the old days Corrie had it's fair share of nasty characters. Ena Sharples was a judgemental, nasty busybody, Mike Baldwin was a crook, Jenny's father was a wife beater and psychopath. Okay things have moved on a level but you have to mix the good and the bad; the nice and the nasty. Corrie has always been good to show how 'nasty' gets you nowhere. Look at the status' of Jenny, Tracy and even Phelan. You also have to take into account that all our soap are drama serials. As much as they say they depict 'real life' they don't. Even so called reality shows are scripted. In real life no one would talk to each other let alone work and sleep with each other. The flats would be a supermarket or flats as would the Rovers. A 'real life' Coronation Street would bore as all.believe me.

I love Jenny she is definitely becoming Corrie's HBIC. I think it started under Blackburn though, as she started working at the factory she set her sights on Johnny and you could tell she was planning a take over. I would love it if Johnny were to die and leave half of the factory to Jenny and half to Aiden. They could have a good feud with both of them running the factory and butting heads all the time.

I think in soaps the best 'baddies' are those with a softer side to them to counteract the nastiness!! This I don't get at all with Phelan which is why I bored with him very quickly!! Hillman's 'nice' side for me was always false & unconvincing which is why he wouldn't be in my list of top baddies either!!
My favourite of all is Tony Gordon but only after he fell hook , line & sinker for the widow of the bloke he'd had murdered!!
You got a small glimpse of his softer side with Carla occasionally but she was never sympathetic to it as half the time she was only using him to make Liam jealous anyway, but with Maria watching him struggle with his conscience knowing what he'd done to her, while simultaneously helping her through it, then ultimately falling in love with her was brilliant TV imo!! That scene during the factory siege where she showed him the photos of baby Liam on her phone & the anguish on his face gets me every time I watch it, before his business like & evil side returns & he goes back to his plan to blow up the factory with him & Carla inside!!
To be just an out & out baddie & be enjoyable takes brilliant acting (and writing) & the only one I can really remember is Jez Quigley!! Probably one of the most objectionable slimeballs ever to appear on a soap but so convincing he was just compelling to watch!!
