I have just updated my VM package just before Christmas with two V6 TiVo boxes replacing two old TiVo and at the same time I got a new Super Hub 3 .

I read that the SH3 has some troubles and yet I have found that the Wi Fi is much better then old Super Hub 2ac which was dropping SSID at times and I had some low signal spots around my home which has thick walls.

The V6 TiVo TV box needs to link with the SH3 as VM has dropped using own network and now use our network to link TV boxes .

The V6 links by network cable or Wi Fi.
Wi Fi which the box marks as Good in % or Excellent in %

I would like to know about the Super Hub 3 lights and what they mean and can we use the two extra sockets at the back at the top ?

What is the best settings for the box ?

I noticed the SIDD is the same for 2.4 GHz & 5GHz WHY?

To set different SIDD you need to go in the advanced section under wireless security.

For 2.4GHZ I have it set to 802.11n 20/40MHZ and for 5GHZ 802.11a/n/ac mixed 20/40 MHZ, setting 20/40/80 led to slower speed test results.

When changing 5GHZ settings you have to wait 1 or 2 minutes for it to come back on, this is because some of the band is shared and it is mandated that it listens first to make sure the channel is clear and no weather radar is using it.

The only light that should be on once it has connected is the bottom white light, if I remember right it flashes red when not connected.

The green wifi light should flash only at startup for a couple of minutes then go off, although on first use mine stayed on and needed a reboot to get it to go off.

There is a known problem with the chipset, that it can cause high latency when gaming, basically it max's out the cpu at times, a fix should be forthcoming but who knows when.

On the firewall I only have the top box selected and all the other options turned off, I found the other options seemed to cause dropped connections on torrent uploads. I have seen some recommend turning the firewall off completely but if you do that then port forwarding and DMZ seem to stop working, so was a no go for me.

Thanks for quick reply...

Can you tell me if the changes you put will make me have change and reset my V6 boxes as they are using the Wi Fi and at this time they are working fine with players etc..

Also renaming SIDD does matter if the code is the same if names are now different ?

Also at this time I have networked many items to the SH3 using the sockets at the back will any settings change the bandwidth for each item linked ?

Does anyone know how the bandwidth of the SH3 is set when using WIFI for computers V6 boxes and network cables to TV and TV boxes & Blu Ray players that I using ?

thanks
