I can't bring myself to look at anything media related in respect to this. The headlines are enough.

It's beyond despicable. That poor, poor man.

Anyone who perpertrates this kind of attack should be caged for a long long time regardless of skin colour.however facebook make me sick .they seem to dine out on this kind of sick crap.i absolutely abhor Zuckerberg and his paid clowns.the stuff they allow on there is so wrong .my fifteen year old godson is about to create an account and I fear for some of the stuff he may see on there.Facebook seem to glorify violence and allow it to be posted by muppets like these.
How exactly are Facebook supposed to block a live broadcast? You think there is someone watching the thousands of live broadcasts to make sure they are all suitable at the exact same time they are being transmitted?

They delete nipples in a flash, maybe they could expand their nipple detection software to include torture?

It's seems pretty clear to me and most other people who have watched the video.
Even Obama is calling it a despicable hate crime.

I'm glad they have all been charged and hope the full weight of the law is brought down on them.

What makes you think these animals were forced under duress to commit this crime ?
I have no intention of watching the video, I was basing my comments on what the OP wrote:

A shocking video shows a white man bound, gagged and bloody as a gang of racist black thugs force him to say “f**k Donald Trump” and “f**k white people”.

and was referring to the victim being forced to make anti-white comments.

Do you know what hate crime is being spoken about, is it the beating of the victim or is it the broadcast or both?

News commentators defend Facebook hate-crime video

'Some news panelists are rushing to the defense of the four black people in Chicago who kidnapped and tortured a mentally disabled white man — saying the savage attack was not, in fact, a hate crime and that Donald Trump is ultimately to blame.

NBC News correspondent Ron Mott and CNN political commentator Symone Sanders have both gone on the air and claimed that they believe the suspects were simply acting out of stupidity, rather than racism.

“You look at it on the surface, you think kids can make some really poor decisions from time to time,” Mott said Thursday during an interview with MSNBC’s Craig Melvin. “They made so many errors, if they were truly trying to be criminal, to obviously broadcast your crime is not a smart thing to do.”

Speaking during a panel discussing on Wednesday night, Sanders argued that the suspects’ actions were the result of a hate-filled election season — and that the media should be blaming President-elect Trump for stirring up emotions of anger and hostility in people across the country.

“I just want to remind folks that we cannot sit here and ignore that — at least for the last year on very public display — the worst parts of America have been brought from the fringe into the mainstream,” the former Bernie Sanders spokesman explained. “That affects people on both sides. We’ve talked about white nationalists and white supremacists and the KKK, but there also, when this inflammatory rhetoric is out there, when someone is repeatedly telling you that your community is the worst of the worst, it brings out the worst of the worst in people.”

The four suspects — identified as Jordan Hill, 18; Tesfaye Cooper; 18; Brittany Covington, 18; and Tanishia Covington, 24 — were each charged with a hate crime on Thursday along with felony aggravated kidnapping, aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated battery.

But Sanders said she believes the attack — in which the four accused suspects yelled f**k Donald Trump” and “f**k white people” — was being completely mislabeled.

“That is not a hate crime,” she said. “Hate crimes are because of a person’s racial ethnicity, their religion, their gender, a disability, it isn’t your political leanings, because someone doesn’t like your political leanings and they do something bad to you, that is not a hate crime.” '

Just to add some balance to this.

While it's good that these 4 are being punished for this crime.

Two white teens raped a black, disabled teenager with a hanger and I don't remember this level of outrage over that in the media. And it wasn't classed as a hate crime, despite the victim being subject to months of racial slurs and bullying from the perpetrators.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.958b633cd1f5

Again, this wasn't classed as a hate crime.

And not only that, but one of the boys who raped the black teenager with a wire hanger, only got 2 years probation and 100 hours of community service. And with good behaviour the judge said his record could be expunged.

Just an example of how racism still operates in the American court systems and how the media focuses more on white victims.

Maybe you missed this post.

The people using this horrible incident to jump up and down and say "look look black people can be racist too" are disgustingly transparent, they care for the victim as little as the perpetrators do.

How do you feel about the victim? It seems in your haste to criticise those who wish state a simple truthful fact, you forgot to mention.

In your rush to get in a bit of whataboutery, you obviously missed the fact that the story has already been posted in this very thread.
While it's still sickening and should have been charged as a hate crime, I would imagine the level of outrage wasn't quite as high because it wasn't streamed live on the internet and then posted worldwide around social media.
It was still picked up by the UK papers despite happening in America, so it's not being ignored.
The sentence was pathetic, even more so by American standards.

Wishful thinking I imagine.

The first story I read about it was when it popped up on my Facebook feed. Instead saying "gang torture vulnerable man" or whatever the headline was along the lines of "racists use incident to spread hate". I thought that was a despicable way of dismissing what happened.

Quite. There seems to be a lot of that about.
