Now I don't have a lot of praise for McLeod but I don't think this was his intent with this story or the Zack/Lisa stuff. I think he is attempting to fix Kate Oates' mistakes in breaking up Zack/Lisa and Rhona/Paddy.
That may be so and fair enough. But I think it could have been done much better. Why not have Zak move into the granny flat and cohabit with Lisa as friends for a time while they build up trust in their relationship? That way he's still in the heart of the family geographically and Lisa wouldn't look like such a doormat. There was no need for the kiss at this stage. Or Lisa basically admitting she can't do any better than Zak. It's just so hurried - he's barely left his new wife's sheets! He's the one in the wrong, yet Lisa was the one fawning over him. And he should make his own bloody soup!!!

That's what he put on the screen. That's what I'll judge him on. Women who are so pathetic and have such low self-respect that they willingly take back men who treat them like crap. And it's "romantic". It's just bubble-headed pin-brained nonsense.

We didn't see anything. it was obvious Rhona didn't want sex but we never saw her say yes or no. Just the scene at the end where she seemed visibly shaken. We don't actually know what happened.
I agree with your comments.....well put.
Rhona didn't want sex and Pierce was very manipulating. We didn't actually see Rhona fighting him off and I think Emmerdale producers should have shown her doing that.

I agree, your idea is good and I think they wanted to hurry and correct a mistake by the last regime. I'm not excusing what they did just saying how I'm interpreting it.

It does make Lisa look weak to take Zack back after all that, you almost need a Bobby Ewing int he shower moment to correct this without making Lisa look weak.

She could have made him work for it. She didn't. She just sat him down, when she was the one who was injured, and made him chicken soup, and seemed to be loving it. So yes, she looks utterly weak, pathetic, and a complete doormat. Because that's how they wrote it.

True, Lisa should be acting more like Moira is towards Cain, because Zack really did throw their lives away by leaving her for Joanie.

It's such an interesting one because although I did class it as rape with Rhona but I do agree with what Tracy was saying sometimes you're not in the mood with a partner but you just "give in" a bit.

She doesn't have to attempt fight him off for it to be rape - in fact, in this situation she is more likely to freeze than fight. The fact she said no is enough.

She shouldn't have to fight off her partner if she said she wasn't interested, multiple times. He wouldn't let her get up, he pushed her back down every time she tried and then was leaning over her, so she had no choice. It was clear she was in shock as well, it kind of reminded me of how dazed Linda was in Eastenders after being raped by Dean.

I think it's good that Emmerdale are highlighting this because it shows a different angle to the usual rape storylines - it's not violent and it's not done by someone menacing who they end up hating and feel disgusted by. It's a partner assuming that he can overrule a denial of consent, as if he has a right to. I'm interested to see what happens when Rhona eventually confesses to what happened, I'm betting some people in the village will find it hard to believe that it's considered rape when it's your partner. Look how Alicia was judged after Lochlan attacked her, because of the way she dressed.

It might have been because of the time. I thought the fleece or whatever she had would fall a bit revealing bruising but I think sometimes "implied violence" works better. Tonight she seemed confused confiding or or trying to with Vanessa as if unsure what happened to her.
