So Gold is about to leave the Central Scotland mux according to the svrolling text and we should listen via the app or online at websote.

That's a shame. I wonder why?
Gold still going strong on 945AM but things like this are another nail in the coffin sadly. |

Might be the end of a transmission contract with Switchdigital which used to be XFM (now on D1 as Radio X, so Gold was put temporally on the regional mux instead)

Hopefully the loss is on temporary, there is space on Digital One Gold may launch on there. Global did have plans to launch a Classic Pop and Rock station playing 70's, 80's and 90's but instead launched Smooth Extra. So Gold may launch on Digital One with this brief with 60's music added. I think Capital will go fully national across the UK this year but will not be allowed to do this in Scotland and local programming will be still be needed. In response to this Capital is removed from FM in Scotland and Smooth is takes over Capital's Central Scotland FM frequency ran by Communicorp and Global hand the Glasgow FM licence back to Ofcom for Smooth. Gold could replace Capital on local DAB in Glasgow and Edinburgh. |

Seems like Gold has retreated to only two areas on DAB now: Quote:
Is Gold on Digital radio in my area? I thought they were building the station back up after celebrating good listening figures in the latest RAJAR sweep? Clearly its days are numbered.
If you live in greater London or the East Midlands then the answer is YES. |

With only 1 presenter, a back up studio used for the station and a couple of outlets, isn't it time for global to invest in Gold as a national DAB station?

Correct me please if I am wrong. Back in the GWR days there was Classic Gold with presenters. This was closed and replaced with GOLD. Now GOLD is being run down with only one presenter.. is this all not because advertisers theoretically don't like oldies stations like GOLD.
Does GOLD have a future? Or doesn't it fit with Globals strategy with main stations and the Extra added on? All so boring. All the same.... |

Stations with playlsts of mainly 1960's to 1980's with a little 1990's mixed in on FM (with DJ's on air 20 to 24 hours per day) are highly popular right around the world.
Why can't we have these stations of the WCBS FM, WOGL, CKDO and 4KQ on the FM waveband here in the UK. Surely a similar station on FM would be far more popular than current chart but going back only to the mid 1990's station. A classic hit from the 1970's or 1980's played at 4.10pm gets more listeners than the current number 38 hit being played on the big top 40 show at the same time. |
