Well either you missed the point or on purpose or you genuinely didn't understand what I was saying, in which case there might be something wrong with you. Like I said, 99% of people wouldn't understand what I was saying. Everyone else on the thread seemed to...

this isn't going to go anywhere attacking each other. Just have to agree different opinions on this.

I used to put my clothes on top of my pyjamas, then take off the outer layer when I went back to bed.

I'm finding this thread HILARIOUS.

If the pyjama clad lot don't give a damn about what people think, why should they care about judgement from others, in the shop or on the thread?

Nakatomi, you seem very hot under the collar about this - but if you wear your nightie with pride, and despise the judgement of others then why so serious?

The 'nightwear brazenly worn to the supermarket' lot (not discretely hidden) aren't some oppressed minority you know.

It's not an ethnicity and, as far as I know, neither is it a religion.

It is then a CHOICE, of those that don't care about judgement.

Unless of course, you do really care

If I wore my nightie with pride I think my girlfriend would be worried, seeing as I'm a bloke!

Oh I agree they're not a minority or anything, I just don't like how quickly these threads descend into having a pop at people who they perceive as lower class. You only have to look at the poster who said it's no surprise that this happens in Salford because that's where Jeremy Kyle films...

Your pyjamas then

Do you think there may be some correlation between class and pyjama to supermarket wearing though?

Although I must say, most of the 'so called' (its very confusing now) working class people I know, wouldn't dream of doing so.

I don't know if there is a correlation really because, as you said, most of the working class people I know (myself being one) wouldn't go shopping in our PJs.

I've never even seen it myself and I don't really live in that nice of an area... I think it's probably like one or two people in any one area, not as widespread as people are claiming.

Why wouldn't you go shopping in your jim jams then Nakatomi?

Other than a very obvious traditional pair of PJ's or nightdress how would people know if it was nightwear ? some clothes look more like bed stuff but are just casual clothes and some people wear t-shirts and jogging bottoms for bed etc

If they looked like just casual clothes, no one would even notice.

So they must look very obviously like night clothes.

Harrods used to have a pet shop, where you could buy alligators, lions, elephants and other exotic animals link.

Not a lot of people know that . . . .

I best friend wears trousers that look a lot like pj bottoms and she's received some looks when we've been out. It cracks me up.

Have you ever been to Shopping City, Salford? It makes Stretford Arndale look like Harvey Nicks!

Err, how does wearing PJs mean they lack self respect? What you mean is they lack your respect. And seeing as you are a nobody on an internet forum, I really doubt they care what you think.

Again, you're just showing how horrible you are. You have no idea if they are lazy, and wearing pyjamas does not make you a slob. I would much rather be wearing my pyjamas than be such a vile, hateful little person judging everybody I see by their appearance.

That's the biggest reach I've ever seen in an attempt to bash Tony Blair! Congrats to you!”

Why be so rude. I never said I was anybody, and to call someone a vile hateful little person is down right rude and hypocritical and probably against forum rules. You don't know me and have no idea what I am like.

I don't get the furore on this. After all, it's them who look stupid.

I sometimes take my mum shopping and she wants to wear her pink slippers - she always asks me "Do you mind?" - I say "No. It's not me that's wearing 'em"

I walk the dog in my pyjamas after a certain time of night. But the supermarket isn't close enough really that I can just pop to the shop in my pyjamas. I'd have to get in the car so I might as well just get dressed in case I break down or something.

I have popped to the shop once or twice over the road for a pint of milk and the paper on a sunday morning in my PJ bottoms, don't see the problem in that.

I think it's against forum rules to say people are low-class and chavvy to do this too. If you don't like hearing that other people don't like your nasty opinions, don't say them. OK?

Nothing worse than getting dog-mess on your pink fluffy slippers when you pop out in them.

That is frightening.

I think it is well on its way and greatly so.
