Fantastic set of episodes. Loving the show right now. It's got the perfect balance. Hope it's high ratings continued.

I have to say tonight's double episode didn't disappoint at all. Also a hello to some newer and older faces in the thread.
Scott Maslen is playing a blinder with this storyline. His reactions are very realistic, and dealing with a death as sudden as that is hard (going from personal experience). I can see why he closely guarded the kids by not telling them, but Dot did the right thing and explained it in a way children can understand. He's lucky he's got his family, even friends that are looking out for him. As for the Ongar (here we go lol) revelation, it's not a good move at the moment. But in his grief like state, this happens. Glenda, I reckon has a lot of guilt but genuine emotion about her daughter's deaths. That was quite something when Shirley mouthed off - insensitive but hilarious in a way. The scenes with Scott and June were very good - beautifully done and delivered. One thing we can say - Max and Abi finally reconcilling. Abi was always a Daddy's girl, and I hope now she's grown up and starts loving and respecting her father. Lauren had to give her the pep talk, and it worked. Perhaps Max has changed and is a better man. Adding to that, perhaps the death of R+R has made him change a bit? Lovely scenes with the family meal. Michelle v Stacey - It was nice nod to the past reminiscing in the allotments about Pauline and Arthur. Good scenes there, but boy isn't Michelle a nightmare to live with. I don't think we've seen the best of Jenna Russell yet, but the two hander could be the making of her. The Twelth Night was an interesting concept from Babe, she did look like a bad trannie in that Elizabethean dress Kudos to Johnny sharing that, and the woman does need to get a sense of humour. Added a bit of a comedy element to it. I wonder if this financial issue or she fleeces Mick leads to her exit? The catching of the pigeons was a bit extreme. I imagine ones in London are contaminated. I like how she nicked the idea off Abi for the Supper Club, plus Shirley made me laugh too We now know that Mick gave Oz a black eye and kudos to him there, but I reckon either Lee or Mick are going down a very dark path there. I will add as an extra taking the chemistry between Mick and Vincent - good scenes there and great chemistry with those two. I can see where Whitney is coming from selling the jewelerry - she probably felt bad about Lee and felt this was her way to cope and repay the money. She deserves credit there. Nice to see Vincent and Pearl back. Kim not returning ties in with Ava/Emerald whatever she calls herself coming into the show. Denise is in a difficult predicament and knowing the baby is spawn of a Mitchell probably makes it harder. I can see where Patrick is coming from, but I do hope she has a change of heart or Kim adopts her. Ian and the Smart Meter and Jayne's line about an affair with a calculator was hilarious 9/10 - strong episode. |

I loved that episode. Jack's characterisation tonight was spot on and it had me so sad for him. I really don't want him to leave. I hope he doesn't.

I've never really rated Scott Maslen but thought he did a great job tonight.

Sick Shirley
I thought it was disgusting of Shirley talking like that about Glenda. Glenda has lost both of her daughters. She might not have been much of a mother to them but she has a right to be devastated.
Also when will Matthew be going to Charlie? He should be with his dad particularly after what his mother did. What Ronnie did to Charlie turned me off her and I'm glad that she was killed off. |

Pretty much all the Slater women (apart from Little Mo) would've done so already if Michelle was bossing them around. |

Good episode. I wouldn't mind Glenda staying on the square as she could be a good character. I wonder if EastEnders is getting paid to advertise ongar

I don't know who's the bossiest, Michelle or Babe.
I'm getting to quite like the fact that she's rattling Stacey, she's lucky she never had Pauline to contend with.![]() The awkwardness around Jack is very realistic...poor Billy. Max has been solid though and really is doing his best…heroic when you consider that Jack never went near him when he was in trouble.I loath Babe and can't wait to see the back of her.

I guess that's the last we will see of Ronnie. I'm with Jack. Once the funeral happens there is nothing left in Walford for me either!

I could only imagine what kind of stuff she'd say about Jean. |

That was such a great episode. I must say, I was very anti-Rexit because I thought Scott Maslen had the emotional range of a gingerbread man. But he has really pulled it out the bag.
Max, Jack, Dot, Glenda and Honey have all been particularly strong in these aftermath episodes. This is why their deaths had to be a tragic accident, because it makes this grieving process so much more heartbreaking and powerful. |

Ongar got its own duff duff I have no words. Scott Maslen did well but couldn't they have had a better duff duff then a guy revealing his plans to move about 45 minutes away.
Wasn't impressed with the episode, felt it started strangely with Max forcing Billy upon Jack despite Jack saying he wasn't ready. Then there were the returns. Firstly Vincent back from his break only to have the we've got to tell you something scene followed by them not actually showing the person being told. Always been a soap irritant of mine but they really seemed to have done it a lot with Ronnie and Roxy's death. It kind of seemed pointless seeing as in the next scene he was running with Mick cheerfully although he did briefly mention Ronnie. Then there was the return of Danny and Glenda. Danny's a bland robotic excuse of a character. judging from his overall lack of dialogue the writers don't think he can act so they might as well have got a recast. He just looks bored by everything. Felt Glenda was poor although at least he has shown some emotion. Talking of recast's I was never a big fan of Michelle but the new one is not doing it for me and her biggest impact seem to be being the rudest guest ever. Finally is it me or does Max's watch look a bit expensive for a guy in a bedsit doing office work not to mention his spending on Christmas day. |

Did I miss something? Why was Trish Barnes - Tessa Churchard credited? Wasn't she the social worker who was involved in the Lola case?

Vincent didn't seem very upset about Ronnie dying which seemed a bit strange.

Tonight's episode was very well done. The actor playing Jack was great. I stopped watching EE for a few months and tonight's was very watchable and I'm glad I saw it. Billy was good too, better than usual and I'm glad he's no longer just a Mitchell.

I hope they're not getting rid of Jack just as he's getting interesting as a character.
It's hard to invest in all these characters and stories if you're just going to write them out (Danny Boy Hatchard and Scott Maslen)! It'd be a big gripe of mine in a SOC era I'm generally loving. |
