Personally I can't stand the things myself and only ever wear them to the gun or when or running. My understanding is the mesh is to replace underwear.

The mesh is designed to replace underwear, to avoid chafing and itching etc.

You probably wouldn't wear mesh shorts while doing yoga, but then women wouldn't usually wear shorts like that for yoga either. There's plenty of other options for activities that involve lots of stretching.

It irritates the hell out of me.

You can't get a pair of swim shorts these days without that bloody stuff in it. First thing I do is get a pair of scissors and cut it out.

If they're getting squashed then you either need a bigger pair of shorts or need to seek medical attention, possibly both.

The shorts fit fine after I've cut that netting out of them.
