I really hope this is not an example of a "typical" Brexit supporter

We have a thread on this diplomat but I can see from the content that a separate one was a necessity for this truly startling piece of news.

Who cares what someone on a radio phone in thinks?

Wonder what his DS moniker is?

This is like starting a thread about a random post in another thread.
A new low even by TheEngineers standards
I suppose desperation is setting in with all the good economic news of late.

I really hope that this pathetic, barrel scraping thread is not an example of a "typical" remain supporter.

Is this really a news story - an argument between the most unpleasant presenter on UK talk radio - James OBrien - and a caller on his phone in show? And then extrapolating this discussion to 17.4 million people?

No wonder the Independent had to go entirely online as no one bought the print version any more.

I don't think our former EU ambassador is a bad person. But I do think James OBrien is a pompous bully and extremely rude to people who call into his show who dare to disagree with him.

As for the caller I might suggest he tunes into Julia Hartley Brewer on talk radio instead at 10am.

The caller is an example of people who make sweeping statements but when asked to explain doesn't have an answer.

The callers opinion was questioned but rabid leave voters want to use the usual ploy of turning it into a personal attack on the presenter.

To describe the presenter as bullying is truly political correctness gone mad.

It's a good representation, the rigid thought pattern and the lack of empathy is something I recgonise in many Brexiteers offline.

You having a laugh? You must be getting him mixed up with someone else. Someone who is on at the weekend maybe?

I think that what those Remain supporters who obsessively start thread after thread are doing is simply trying to vent their frustrations by the only means they have, given that in the real world they have no means to change anything.

At least the forum acts as a release valve for them.

You have obviously never listened to James O Briens show!

It's perfectly reasonable to criticise an experienced well paid presenter - as opposed to a random member of the public who phones in to their phone in show. If we had a thread about every random caller to phone in shows making comments someone found issue with we would have dozens of such threads daily.

And to somehow assign characteristics or views of one person to 17.4 million people who voted for Brexit is just ridiculous,

It's about as logical as saying Tony Blair is a war criminal, Tony Blair backed remain so therefore all remain voters are war criminals.

James O'Brien has often invited calls from Brexiteers and with hardly any exception they all come across more or less the same as the caller on the website - totally clueless and never able to explain how their life will be better outside the EU or what EU laws they don't like. One Remainer called the show yesterday saying that having listened to all those irrational callers he felt like packing his bags and leaving the country.

Why will your life be worse outside the EU? If you want Brexiters to say how their life will be better, why will your life be worse? I daresay you can't answer because you don't know what arrangements will be agreed. So get off your superior high horse!

So we are going to judge 17.4 million by few individuals who have the misfortune to listen to the James O Brien show and phone in.

Not sure how all his listeners voted in June but they do seem to share one thing in common - masochism.

The point is about basic democratic accountability - with the EU there isn't any as we don't elect the Commission and have no vote in the elections of the other 27 member states who can out vote us via QMV? I know that may seem like a quaint concept to remainers but it is rather fundamental!

I've noticed that too. You'd have thought that if they were regular listeners that the very least they could do would be to research the particular subject and have some sort of answer or come back. It's as if they're a bit stupid or something.

The brief for that particular hour was:
"Why would Theresa May not tell her top diplomat in Brussels what her negotiating strategy is"

It is an important question. Even if you are one of the ever dwindling number of Leavers who are still saying.....Oh No! Do we really have to discuss Brexit? Do we really have to discuss the Elephant that is eclipsing the sun?.....it is an important question.

The quality of the argument from Leave callers was dire. And shocking.
The producer insisted to James O'Brien that she was putting the high quality calls through to him.
Surely he would not want to hear the other callers instead? Would he?

The call in the link is one of the "high quality" Leaver responses to the important question.

Shows how desperate Remoaners have become really that they are now relying on the James O Brien radio show for solace - so they like him can try and pretend last June's vote didn't really happen and we aren't leaving the EU,

Once we are able to afford that extra £350m a week on the NHS post Brexit hopefully some of it will be made available to provide them with the appropriate therapy so they can just get over it!

Maybe these callers should just phone Farage's show instead, he'll give them a response they want to hear and agree with every word. A better option than phoning a presenter that's actually informed.

No it proves how desperate you are. The tiresome remoaners insult and just ranting about O'Brien because leave voters can never answer his simple questions. I am sure you prefer the quality of discussion that is on offer with Nick Ferrari, Nigel Farage and Katie Hopkins? And then you have a cheek to say remainers are desperate?
