You may be familiar with my previous post about what a struggle it is to walk our dog, problems are still ongoing and we are now going to enlist the help of a dog behaviourist to figure out why Georgie hates walking, but I just wanted to gauge whether she is being walked enough.

At the moment she has 3 walks per day, I try and get her out for at least 15-20 mins in the morning, dog walker takes her for 30 mins midday and my BF walks her in the evening for at least 15-20 mins.
At the weekends we take her to the dog park for at least an hour both days as well as her morning and evening walks.

However she sometimes will only walk for 5-10 mins in the morning or evenings and my dog walker is now saying she is struggling to get her to walk for more than 10 mins during the day too.

She's a large Aylestone bulldog (similar to an American bulldog) and she is slowly putting on more and more weight and I'm getting worried its because of the lack of exercise. We have reduced her food intake but she still piling on the Kilos!

So how long and how often do you walk your dog?

We walk our dogs similar to you, 3 times a day, at least 20 min each, but 1 walk is often longer and where we can let them of lead to have a run around.
But each dog is different, large and very heavy dogs might not need as much as certain other breeds.
Have you had him checked out from Vet to make sure nothing is wrong? He might have some pain or such?

I agree, sounds like pain or it could be something hormonal that's making the weight pile on him. Unless he's had a recent vet check it sounds like he needs another and maybe bloods doing to make sure everything is ok.

The rescue centre had similar problems (we got her 4 months ago from rescue) and said it was "psychological" rather than physical, and when I registered her with the vet I mentioned the problem and she could not find any problems with her (although no x rays were done). She also had blood tests recently for allergies and there was nothing suspicious either.

Dog walker also thinks its not physical problem as she will happily walk some days, and others just refuses (unless she's heading home in which case she practically runs home!). Hence why we are looking into getting a behavourist instead.
