Less sleep I feel better!
Do you function better and feel more energized on less sleep. ? I may be quite a rare specimen here
I feel at my best mind and body wise, energy e.t.c. when i've slept between 4 and half hours and 6 hours. Oh and sex drive goes even higher to! ( this one is for you Muggins and a few other like minded people ) ![]() ![]() ![]() Any more than 6 hours, thing's can start to go the other way, as in I feel generally worse. |

Isn't it recommended to get between 6 and 8 hours per every 24 hours or something?
I find I feel lazy if I sleep for too long, and generally those days I don't do much. I usually try to aim for 7 hours sleep, maybe have more on one of the weekend days if I feel I need it. I'm pretty sure I sleep more in the winter too; I need to typically set my alarm in the winter if I want to be up any earlier than 8am, though in the summer I'll easily wake myself up (without an alarm) for 6:30/7. |

The we must sleep 8 hours line to feel fully refreshed, isn't as commonly used now. Many people feel 100% refreshed on quite a lot less. |

I always envyed people like Margeret Thatcher who famously performed well on 4 hours sleep a night. It must be like having a second life. Sadly I need my zeds, although do seem to need fewer than I did when I was younger. Now about you and Muggs - do we need to start looking at hats? ![]()

Yeah my Nan sleeps less and less as she ages. At 90 she gets up before the bakers!!

Can I say or maybe you can take this advice. Don't eat or drink anything but water after 6 pm, you will drift into an all nights sleep pattern. It works for me when I adhere to my own advice at times

If I only sleep for 4 or 5 hours, I feel really great all day afterwards. If I sleep for 10 hours I also feel fine. It's between 6 hours and 9 hours that screw me over. I've never understood it.

It's relevant for two reasons, one it was joke. Two it's all part of the philosophy of the human condition.
Or do you mean part. Anyway, I'm pleased for you and your other half. |

That's all fine, but it's proven some folks mind and bodies can be fully functioning on around 5 hours sleep.

A lot can depend what is spinning round in your mind at night, some nights I can lie all night in a semi sleep and be aware of my surroundings. Clearing the head as well is a great help, but that's easier said than done. BTW, I deleted my Facebook account a couple of weeks back and I really do feel great with some quality sleep. Modern day technology keeps people awake, fact!

On the odd occasion i sleep for a few hours in the afternoon / evening and feel great afterwards, so i see where you are coming from with this. When i wake up in the morning after sleeping for 6-8 hours i don't feel so good though. It takes a while to really get going after sleeping that long.
I remember sleeping for about 12 hours at one point last year, i felt terrible afterwards. It was like my whole body was really lethargic. |
