Educate yourself. Philosophy is related to knowledge. I meant exactly what I said.

Grow up.
What's immature in what I wrote?

Should I have shared it with some 'like-minded' posters?

Philosophy is related to knowledge in that it's the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence.

Anyway you seem to be onto a winner for you. Good on you and, as I said, lucky OH

It was immature saying i'm pleased for you and the OH, without any basis for that what so ever. Gun jumping at it's best. It's fine FM's being a bit nosy and presumptuous if they are correct, but they just look a bit silly when they are incorrect!

The word philosophy can be used in a few different contexts, including in the way that I used it.

It's a shame you didn't take my comment about your OH in the spirit it was meant.

I'll say no more about it.

Try using smileys next time then, usually that's the etiquette around here, helps show a posters intentions.

Do you function better and feel more energized on less sleep. ? I may be quite a rare specimen here I feel at my best mind and body wise, energy e.t.c. when i've slept between 4 and half hours and 6 hours. Oh and sex drive goes even higher to! ( this one is for you Muggins and a few other like minded people )

Any more than 6 hours, thing's can start to go the other way, as in I feel generally worse.

That's all fine, but it's proven some folks mind and bodies can be fully functioning on around 5 hours sleep.
Maybe, but it's not usually wise to self-diagnose oneself in these situations.

Shouldn't you be busy or something everyone needs a wee rest once in a while though! lol

Yep, and in your profession often you have to try and get used to functioning well on little sleep!

True, but the sleep experts i've listened too, pretty much say if you feel well rested and function well then you've had the correct amount of sleep for you.

But obviously some people are better at listening to their body than others.

If in any doubt though about anything regarding health an well-being, of course someone should see an expert face to face.

I am a power napper 20 mins and I'm awake again ready to go. Great in the day time not so great in the night time because if something disturbs my sleep it can take me an age to get back to sleep if at all. If I have an undisturbed night I also function better on less sleep so around 5-6 hours and I'm fine, longer than 7 I feel like crap in the morning.

I generally prefer around 6-7 hours of sleep per night, I find this is sufficient for me to function perfectly well. At weekends if I do sleep over 7 hours I generally feel more tired so I try not too

I'm normally up around 5am.
Most men are. At least until they spend a penny. But this thread is about sleep.

I need 8 hours. Not more, not less. Or I should say 8 is optimal although I can get by with less, just not as well. And the effects of too little and too much sleep are vastly different.

The most noticeable side effect of too little sleep for me is sluggish metabolism, not my overall alertness. I just feel a bit bunged up and don't digest well if I don't sleep enough. But if I sleep too much I feel groggy and a bit down all day.

Yeah you do really need to find the 5 to 6 hour bracket, try and get that.

If it's solid quality sleep it will be decent for many people.

Yep, a lot of guys get the interrupted sleep problem as they get older. God knows how many times an old guy who drinks a lot of beer needs to get up during the night!! Double trouble.

If I get less than 7 hours a night, I do feel really crappy and grumpy the next day so I aim for 7-8 hours a night. I'm most productive after 8 hours sleep.
