Scapegoat is a contraction of escape goat so there's nothing wrong with it.
Although it is true that scape is an archaic version of the word escape; the word scapegoat was coined in the sixteenth century to describe one of two goats in a Mosaic ritual described in Leviticus. The original version was scape-goote and therefore the word is not a contraction of 'escape goat'.
