EE: Mick's indifference towards his kids
When Ollie got knocked over he held a grudge against Nancy for weeks. Knowing that she had seizures caused by stress he still held out, putting her under stress and making her life a misery, ultimately leading to her decision to leave albeit after a reconciliation.
Now his son, although he's made mistakes and done things anyone would be rightfully angry with, tells him he tried to take his own life a few days ago his response is to shun him, have digs at him and dismiss him. He doesn't seem to like or care for his kids a lot of the time, undermining the whole 'patriarch' character of his. |

I can't really agree with that. I'd imagine his youngest child possibly being brain damaged from childish nonsense made his reaction towards Nancy warranted. He still sorted it in the end.
As for Lee, well again I think it's more than warranted. He quickly came out and said he was wrong to say the line about maybe he should have done them all a favour but admitted it would be hard to know if he could forgive him. Wouldn't you feel the same? Yes it's your first born son but how are you supposed to get your head around that son putting your whole family at incredible risk like he did? I'm not sure I'd know how to forgive that either. |

Infact I was pretty tame in my original response. I completely disagree with what you're saying.
How is the guy supposed to get his head around that his son, sold out his own mother, father and baby brother for some cash? Putting them at risk of god knows what happening to any or all of them? And for what? Some money? Lee didn't seem to go into detail or say what he did to Whitney so either he didn't and it looks like he could do that just to get his hands on some cash, or even if he did say about fitting in....that looks even more ridiculous (and still makes no sense as I've said in other threads too) How would you try to understand and forgive that? "Oh it's alright son, let's just put it behind us!" and then wonder and hope that he doesn't decide to put you all at risk of serious injury or death again one day in future because he needs a few quid? |

Can't really agree with this either to be honest. The incidents you mentioned would be enough to test the patience of a saint so he is bound to be very angry and would say things he ultimately didn't mean at the beginning. He always comes round though.

When your children are as obnoxious as Lee and Nancy are, can you really blame him?

It does make for uncomfortable viewing but in both cases I get his anger. At least he doesn't treat his kids like crap routinely ala Phil.
People expected him to forgive Nancy while Ollie was still critical in hospital. Forgiveness usually comes in time. I feel sorry for Lee but he set up a robbery on his parents' home that turned violent. Linda already has to live with the fact she was raped there. It's terrible what Lee has done. Again, people are expecting too much from Mick too soon. |

I'd say he's done bloody well to be the way he is. He's said he's sorted him out for money and while he's being arsey with him in conversation and distant, I'm impressed he's not outright told him to do one and disowned him after that.

When children mess up so badly it's a double blow...the anger at their behaviour, and the feeling that you must have failed as a parent.

The whole family are rotten, it's no wonder the kids are scumbags with an emotionally stunted idiot for a father, and not at all surprising that he doesn't like such awful kids. A family of violent thugs, rapists, thieves, convicted sex offenders, child abandoners, and baby sellers.
Thanks. |

He is a terrible father.
He sides with Linda when She is not accepting Johnny and inferfering in his life. Treats Nancy like Dirt after an accident. She did not mean for Ollie to get hurt and he decides to pay her to leave. I'd have cut all ties with him the. After the weeks of bad treatment over an accident rather than forgive. Lee is ill and he tells him he wished he had killed himself. Even when I'm in a bad state and have been lashing out due to my own depression my mum has never said such things even when I screwed up badly. Granted I never arranged a robbery on my home but Lee is still mentally ill. The whole Lee arranging a robbery was a huge mistake imo. Telling your kid younwish they did kill themselves is utterly disgusting regardless of what they have done. He will start treating Ollie badly in a few years like dirt on his shoe. Wish he would get killed off. I'd literally kill him off in my first episode if I ever took over. Awful chracted, awfulmactor and awful parent. |

He's done well not to whoop they asses for the ****ery.
Nancy needed her ass beat several times for what happened to Ollie just because she was jealous. In regards to Lee, even Stevie Wonder can see the boy is going through something. I'm shocked that superMom Linda hasn't clocked that Lee needs help. But he needs his ass whooped too for playing with his little brothers safety that way. |

He's never grown up. He and Linda were always playing house in somebody else's house (pretty much the situation they wanted to force on Lee and Whitney) and because they never grew up Lee and his siblings had to stay children .And as a result Mick can't be an adult father to his kids and the kids can't handle adult life .

In the real world, after that kind of confession, Mick would tell Lee to stay away from him for a few months while he calmed down. In EE, even though Lee doesn't live above The Vic anymore, he turns up at the bar asking for attention straight from work.
