Someone who's full time job is working out seems very badly placed to give normal people with normal jobs advice on exercise.

Only last year he was in adverts for McDonald's and Nestlé promoting junk food.

Just all seems money grabbing and lacking in integrity to me.

I suppose it ties in with New Year's resolutions and all that.

Yeah, anyway, I've got some chocolate and cake I have left over from Christmas and for some reason I'm just in the mood to have some with a nice cup of coffee.
I guess this has become my natural instinctive reaction now to anything a celebrity preaches to me. Just do the opposite.

I just knew the moment i saw this posted in GD that it would be a free-for-all mess of a thread with people piling on Daley.

I don't envy being a teen trying to figure out your sexuality while being under such a strong spotlight.

Nobody's said how how much older Dustin Lance Black is yet so i guess i will

These threads are always thinly veiled at best.

When do you think that's going to begin?

Well of course that's what it is. If some publisher offers you 100k to promote a fitness dvd then integrity goes out the window. I'd do the same in his shoes.
I doubt his book/dvd has anything different to the thousands of fitness product already out there. The only fools are those who buy these things. Eat less and move more is pretty much all you need to know to get healthier/fitter. Everything else is window dressing. You can find all you need on youtube. There are a ton of free workouts/recipes on there.

Well his job isn't actually working out... his job is diving. Yes, he needs to be in shape but his job isn't going to the gym. There's a lot of stuff about diving that isn't just working out!

Apparently he has actually developed the plan himself and it's what he really does follow, so good for him if people want to buy it.

I turned on the TV for 10 minutes yesterday whilst doing some darning, he was on This Morning cooking a very nice looking, and quick, healthy meal. He explained that he'd been on an intensive 6-week cooking course when he was 16, so it's something he has always been interested in.

Hasn't he been on a celeb cooking show before?

He's old enough to be his father. Maybe he's looking for a father figure after the death of his own??

He just comes across as a typical irritating middle class studenty type, but I didn't agree with the trolling he got on Twitter.

His mother didn't help matters by getting involved when some argument erupted about his performance though.

Oh and I agree it's all about the money; integrity means nothing to many (most?) people these days.

Who better than a sportsperson to teach people about health and fitness?

Also, sportspeople tend to have fairly short careers so need something to fall back on. Writing or presenting about fitness is something Tom Daley is pretty much 'qualified' to do given how long he has been diving for.

As for his sexuality, even as a non-famous teenager I found it a struggle coming to terms with my being gay. Doing it as someone famous I can imagine must be even worse.

Plus it has nothing to do with his career choices.

He's 22 and turning into a proper media whore.

Dustin does not look his age! I think he has portrait in the attic.

I don't get what the offence is at thinking someone is gay for how they act. You might be right, you might be wrong. But unless you see homosexuality as some kind of bad, dirty, shameful secret - why would you take issue with it?

It's like when we speculate about if a member of a boyband is seeing a member of a girlband. Magazines full of gossip about that. The second there's a rumour about a member of a boyband dating another member of another boyband - suddenly it's some kind of awful, sick intrusion.

It's irritating for those of us wanting to see the 'normalisation' of homosexuality (term used advisedly) to constantly find that people claiming to be allies do little else but run about treating it differently.

we shouldn't feel too sorry for him having this terribly short career, and being thrown on the scrap heap in his early 20s

It's no different to going to University and doing a Media Studies degree

The traditional DS hatred for a person who has actually done something with their life continues into 2017.

It's probably better than the DVD by that annoying 'cheeky cockerney' Joe Wicks.

He was a teen when he first came out.

And so what if he is a "media whore"? Perhaps he wants a career in the media.

Yes, that's what I've always found to be the case.

Or alternatively maybe they really do love each other? Shocker I know!

Perhaps because I've never heard the word "mincing" used in a positive way. It's always derogatory and used to suggest the person in question doesn't conform to gender stereotypes.
