Do you think it's possible to make a joke involving sexuality without it being casual homophobia? Or do you think nobody ever makes such jokes purely for the fun of it?

I see you managed to get the "mincing about in his budgie smugglers" joke removed too, along with all the associated replies, but you continued to use the offending term.

I didn't report it, if that's what you're suggesting.

It missed the hilarious joke, but the phrase "mincing about in his budgie smugglers" in reference to a gay man could be construed as homophobic.

But there is a show called Ready Steady C**k. I guess you can tell I get my knowledge of cookery shows funnelled through Gordon Ramsay however

That's because integrity doesn't pay the bills. I certainly don't do my job for free so I don't know why professional sportspeople should (the grants and prize money in the vast majority of sports isn't going to represent a career income that can keep them going for their working life - their income has to be supplemented by other stuff).

It's a shame that a sports personality can't release a book without his sexuality becoming a subject of discussion / jokes / references to how he acts. I mean that's just homophobia however you choose to wrap it up or excuse it. His sexuality has absolutely nothing to do with his sport, his book, his eating plan or his exercise.

Regarding the BOOK... it is what it is.. another diet plan/fitness instruction book. There are many many such books out there and many many DVDs. I don't see a problem with it personally. If it's the spark that encourages someone to eat better, exercise and become healthier... then so be it. Mostly it will just gather dust in a few months. But I'm not going to begrudge him for it. He's probably quite well placed to advise on such matters.

Z List celebrities on the other hand...

Rubbish. There is nothing homophobic about mentioning that he is effeminate, which he is, and a big slow clap for the person(s) who reported my post to get it removed (with the hope of getting me banned in the process no doubt)

You people are part of the problem.

I have more respect for z list. At least they desperately need the money so it's forgivable to go straight from promoting junk food to healthy food.

This guy didn't even do the fat photos and just lends his name to someone elses exercise routine. Then goes on about how affective 20 min exercise routines are despite admitting they workout 6 hours a day.

I do wonder how much is enough money? Sharon Osbourne must have loads, but still did asda. Spice girls did tesco. And George c did those coffee adds. Surely people must get a certain amount in the bank and then think its better to keep their integrity than just try to make more money money?

I really don't think relying on someone's sexuality and suggesting they "mince" is funny. I didn't report your post however, I'd much rather it have stayed up and so people could see the homophobic 'joke'.

That's because most people aren't independently wealthy. That kind of attitude towards working for a living is typical of the aristocrats of old. I'd have thought that these days even the most spoilt children with extensive trust funds realise that many (most?) people these days work in exchange for the money they live from.

The fat photos are the biggest con out there. Many of them are faked, and those who take genuine 'fat photos' before undergoing the regime, have signed a contract to do so in exchange for money. Isn't it better to have someone who incorporates sustainable healthy eating and exercise into their lifestyle.

If you don't want to read about diet and exercise from a popular Olympian, then no-one is forcing you into it. At least he is a decent role model for those who do want to live healthily, and didn't just go on a crash diet for two months between photo-shoots.

Mincing is just a description of somebody who walks in an affected, dainty way for god's sake, which is what he does, gay or not. If I were gay I would be telling people like you to stay off my side, because you do more damage than not.

Actually it is potentially homophobic (and also sexist).

lol @ a straight person telling homosexuals what is and isn't homophobic.

You're being homophobic. Please stop.

And you are talking absolute rubbish. You can't even decide whether it is or isn't homophobic. And sexist? Give me a break.

If you're heterosexual and using it derogatorily to imply weakness and emasculation especially in regards to a homosexual man, it is homophobic.

It is also possibly sexist because there is an implication that being "feminine" is an unfavourable characteristic.
