Preventative worming and flea-ing

We adopted an old lady lurcher back in June. Advice was given that she received flea and worming treatment after 3 months, and then we continued our own plan after that.

She was due to be re-treated in December, but we forgot (December being a stupidly busy time of year!) New plan in place to note on the calendar when she's due for treatments.

So my question being: can anyone recommend any treatments? She's 20kg (well 19.6kg). Pets At Home offered us a subscription, but I think there's always better deals to be found. Plus we don't know the difference between brands. Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

Personally I don't think you can beat the ones the vets prescribe, ours keeps an eye on what's working and what's no longer effective and recommends what is best each year.

Milbemax for worms and Activyl TickPlus spot-on for fleas and ticks. You can get both fairly cheaply from online vets. My terrier is into everything when he is of the lead and these keep him free from pests.
