Not really sure what this "twitter moments" thing is but would tend to agree with what appears to be author at the top.”

I wonder how many outraged non-Muslims are from the ignorant "they're all the same" and "religion of peace" mockery camps and crapping pants about their scary bogey men.

It should be a persistent widespread campaign, diminish the detritus and hopefully also save some impressionable kids lives in the process.

I liked the one I saw where two Muslim women were talking, and one said that Aziz, her 10 y.o. son had triggered his suicide vest at a police station.
The other one said, "Yes, they blow up so quickly nowadays, don't they?"

Brilliant stuff.

No different to the classic BBC NI radio and TV show Give My Head Peace, which brilliantly satirised the Loyalist and Republican hardliners and communities in the 90s.
Which the NI audience loved.

In the ordinary way a joke about slavery is as unfunny as it gets. But the slaves they are poking fun at are the ones who signed up voluntarily.

I had decided not to watch this series but it is all set up on I-Player now.

I suspect the more the liberal elite pretend to be offended about it on other's behalf from their leafy Metropolitan bubble the more people will watch.

Just as a big two-fingered salute to such whining.

The more IS gets the piss taken out of it the better as far as I am concerned.

Yes, I agree. It is what we do and should be doing more of. It's not irreverent in any way, as we should have no reverence for ISIS or those who choose to follow them blindly.

There are some muslims who are furious and claim the BBC are racist. Syed Bokhari for example, ex leader of the Muslim Defence League (United We Stand Divided We Fall version) and co-founder of London2Calais is urging people to protest. He says the sketch was "racist against muslim women" and said also that it was "disgusting". He is a hard left ex SWP senior member. He is on Facebook as Syed Red Bokhari and has appeared in newspapers such as the Daily Mail because of his hardline views on immigration and islam. He has been banned from entering France as a threat to national security. So it's not just white middle class people offended on behalf of muslims. He has quite a following on Facebook. Incidentally he also boasts about his time in prison for burglary after looting a shop belonging to a former asylum seeker.

Surely this just breaks the stereotype that not all Muslim Women are oppressed and forced to stay at home. Some can actually have a career.

Then I suspect that the type of Muslim that Is offended by this probably does not think Women should be allowed to work.

It wasn't offensive to Muslim women, probably more to the silly cows who leave this country to join Isis.

It's bound to upset the more radical Muslim, who has similar views/sympathises with the likes of ISIS.

Another extremist dressed up as a modern day Robin Hood. Doesn't give a shit about nil-status women or IS abuse, only how many points he can score.
It was aimed at people like him, he's proved it worked.

The only people offended are the Daily Mail and other IS supporters, it was 'liberal elite' who created this show.

Life of Brian, Father Ted? but then again Four Lions wasn't mocking religion as such.

If you'd have told me 6 months ago that the BBC would have commissioned this, let alone aired it I wouldn't have believed you.
There must have been sea change at the BBC.
It was very funny btw.

Respect to the liberal elite here who appear to have bigger balls than the 'we cannot say stuff cos of PC' brigade.

This reminds me of those silly talking heads in those retrospective nostalgia TV programmes such as 'It was all right in the 70s' and the like who just can't seem to get that using ridiculous over the top characters with extreme views is often necessary to make a point in the subtext.
If anyone takes this to be simply mocking Muslim women is either stupid or just does not have ANY sense of humour so is unable to understand the joke.

I've only seen a couple of brief clips of this, so can't comment on the full programme, but I find it absolutely fascinating that the BBC are showing this.
Am I right in thinking that this was somehow linked to the anniversary of the Charlie Ebdo murders?

Very surprised and very fascinated by the decision of them to do this.
Because for one reason alone, they know full well that they're going to get complaints over this. They KNOW. So will be prepared for a bit of a backlash at the very least.

It would be good if they always had the fortitude to feel this kind freedom, and it will be interesting to see if it's just for this show only or we can expect to see the BBC be more 'liberal' in the way we used to think the word meant in the future.

There will be Muslims who will condemn this, but I believe that there will be many other Muslims who will applaud it too.
In fact it may do more good for Muslims and social cohesiveness in this country than bad. I think it may turn out that the BBC made a very smart move here indeed.
