Thanks.

No Kevin said Sophie didn't have insurance and that is why he had to send her money. I have a feeling though its all a lie and it has something to do with Rosie's return.

If Kevin has to pay medical bills for surgery for Sophie in the USA, he'd need to sell his garage, flat etc to raise the enormous amount of money required
Would anyone really travel to the States without insurance?

Kevin doesn't need to sell anything, he just needs to do what most us do in the US,...not pay our medical bills.

It's a bit more than that, if it's appendix that would just about cover the diagnosis. Before any surgeon sticks a knife in, they will require fishwife and little gormless Jack up for collateral. I love that description of Jack in a post recently. Those Doctors will take your first born, Sophie's clipboard and Kevins age into consideration to see what earning power he has left in his life. No free ride for mugs who don't have insurance. No more pints or Cuban heels for Kevin I'm afraid. He'll have to learn what frugal means.

Exactly. Plus Sophie would be bemoaning anyone else who did such a silly thing that it does not really ring true that she would travel to USA without travel insurance. I think Kevin mentioned £10,000 was needed for Sophie's medical bills, but I may be wrong

Of course Sophie would have got insurance but as usual character is being driven by the plot.

How else is Kevin going to get into financial trouble otherwise?

Shame Kevin wasn't more careful when he won that money on the scratch card
Perhaps he could ask Sally for help, as he was kind enough to give her half!

As Sophie is an adult, Kevin is not legally responsible for her debts, although he can choose to pay them. If he chose not to pay, what would happen to Sophie in America ?

Why say she didn't have insurance if she would have?
They are also getting Kevin into trouble with the new pick up being stolen, so there was no need to use the Sophie no medical insurance.

Nothing, me and a lot of other people I know don't pay medical bills, they don't go on your credit score, the only thing you have to worry about is collectors calling you and they are only able to call you for a few years.

Electric shock treatments until she coughed up All the garage clients bank information. Pin numbers, accounts etc. They have to make up for Mark doing the midnite move.

LOL its not just me, its tons of people. Don't worry about the hospitals they get there money. For example I had a surgery 3 years ago Cleveland Clinic charged something like 20,000K for the operating room my insurance paid 80% and I was left with a 4k bill. Now before I had the surgery I asked the doctor how much it would cost and his response was don't worry about it you have insurance. So I haven't paid it, if you can't tell me the cost of something till after you provide the service or at least give an estimate its your fault I can't pay the bill.

Did he use his share to buy/put towards buying No.13? And did he get a loan to buy/do up the new workshop under the viaduct?

Why should Kevin bear the brunt of her bills
Sally should do her share. She has plenty of money

Money is no problem in soaps unless part of a storyline. Remember when Maddy died Kevin paid for her funeral without batting an eyelid.

They'd throw assorted lawsuits after her

You cant escape by running for Britain. Those private practices can find legal ways of getting to her and Sophie and Rosie are far too stupid to avoid them

Also these things can escalate to bring down Kevins garage

Yes it was a burst appendix.

Ridiculous that she wouldn't have had travel insursnce. Rosie I could believe but Sophie is usually quite sensible and surely Kevin or Sally would have thought of it?

Yes, Sally did buy Tim's share in.StreetCars but I'm sure that wouldn't have used all.of her share. Why doesn't she help? Sophie is her daughter too.

No, he won £200,000 and originally was going to keep all of it, but he softened and gave her £100,000
She was going to buy into Underworld but her offer wasn't accepted
He bought equipment for the garage, but didn't spend all of it.
Why no mention of her taking equal responsibility with Kevin?
Another thought- neither appeared to give their daughters a share of their windfall, as you might expect loving parents to do
