Interesting that real women like Tania are allowed to be ridiculed or poked fun at in that way, but when it comes to Nadia who says she's a real woman, it's not tolerated.

You can call Tania "Mania" or whatever she was called, because it's blatantly untrue, but the same can't be said of Nadia.

Anyway, I think the standards on this forum as to what is and what is not offensive are all over the place. I say get rid of all the rules and have a free-for-all.

yes but what makes Nadia a woman any more than Kemal? Kemal is more femanine in both looks and the way he acts than Nadia, he obviously falls into that "woman trapped in mans body" crap that someone was talking about the other day, he dresses and walks around like a woman. One or two operations missing but surely theres more to being a woman that having your d**k cut off?

It's not as simple as that though.

Basically there's your body's gender and your mind's gender - they are actually determined separatly when you're in the womb.

Now for the most part the two match, which is why I feel like a man, and I have a man's body, and someone else feels the way they do, and have their body.

Occasionaly though their is a mismatch and someone has ,say, a boys body, but FEELS like a girl.

And, it is VERY REAL, just as I 'know' I am a man, these people 'know' they are a girl or whatver, EVEN THOUGH they have female 'bits'.

But to them doing 'female' things and wearing dresses etc feels RIGHT, just as not doing them feels right to you.

It causes great psychological problems for those involved, and is something that should be taught at school, so 'normals' don't feel so threatened by what is just a natural variation.

Although one should respect Nadia's wishes and refer to her as her/she, strictly speaking without the certificate under the GRA, she is stilll actually *male*.

I dont know whether she's got a certificate, so I shall call her 'she' etc, but for all I know she has not got one, and it might not be wrong to call her 'him' etc.

confusing much?

The moderators have ruled that Nadia be referred to as a woman - forum contributors should obey the rule or may be banned for infringement .....

Not confusing at all .....

The moderators might be Nadia fans considering all the other stuff they let go unchecked.

Seems to me, if anyone doesn't agree with the decisions the mods make, there's not much point in being on the forum.

After all, we all sign up agreeing to the T&C.

Pardon me, I was under the impression this was a democracy where the right of freedom of speech was enjoyed. Someone should have told me this forum operates like a dictatorship, and I'd never have joined.

Sorry, where did I say the forum acts as a dictator
If you go back to almost the beginning of this thread, you will see a post that Beth made, comments regarding this issue.

The mods arbitrarily decide what is an what is not offensive/acceptable. You are tolerated calling x a bitch and not y. Why is that? That smacks of dictatorship, or bias at the very least.

If there's only one useful function this forum serves it is to tease out what is and what is not acceptable language. Even Beth is not immune when she chooses to enter the debate from question as to her motives.

he said: Moderators must be nadia fans as they let other stuff go

you said: well obey the mods or dont be on the forum

therefor he said whatever happened to freedom of speech.

if the forum is a country then the mods are dictators. Say what they want you to say or be exilled. attempt to make jokes or poke fun at a person who they themselves like or are fans of then you will be kicked out.

I personally have no problem agreeing to the rules, not swearing, not threatening people or making certain remarks but considering this entire thread grew to ten pages long purely coz I got irate at getting a written warning from the moderators after making a joke about Nadia which has not only been made hundreds of times about that housemate but about other housemates throughout the years.

We poke fun at Cameron for being a virgin, we poked fun at Tanya for looking like a man, housemates themselves poke fun at Kemal for looking like a women, it's been reported on the news section of this forum. jokes are made about housemates every day. People made fun of jason, emma, jade, alex, jonny, gos, shell, marco everyone and they will continue to make fun and laugh at housemates as long as this forum and the show goes on but the one thing we're not allowed to do is make fun of Nadia because she used to be a man?

It makes 100% absolutly no sense. the only reason for this rule to exsist (and please note it is no where in the sites T&C or the forums rules topic) is that the moderator for this forum is an over sensative transexual or is a big big nadia fan and is trying to impose their will and get the former housemate they like to have nothing bad said about them.

either way is wrong, it's a public forum and while we can respect each other and everyone else poking fun at a housemate who used to be and legally may still be a man by saying "he" instead of "she" is is not something that should require censorship, written warnings or any other form of moderation. To do that without going through ever post and making sure every housemate is refered to by their chosen gender is juast showing bias which is not the job of a moderator.

again i enjoy posting in this forum, I enjoy the free exchangeof ideas and the ability to openly discuss things have a discussion with a gay person about weather the word poof is offensive or weather they should let a person in a wheel chair into the house or weather very is one sylable or two in the haiku thread. I just didn't think it was fair to get a written warning for somehting that didn't breach any rule that was written anywhere on this site and feel it showed nothing but bias.

i will adhear to the rule in future as I have done in this whole discussion but I would like to see the rule written in the sites terms and conditions or this forums rules or at the very least an explanation or appology from the moderator who issued me the warning.

Other than that the issue is dead and I wont be posting to this topic again (unless directly asked a question)

I too got a written warning for calling someone a bitch. I never indulge in personal abuse as a rule, but I thought this particular individul, who is a new columnist on this site, deserved it for some of the horrible comments she made last year re a particular housemate.

When, therefore is it acceptable, or rather who is it acceptable to call a bitch, whore, slapper, or whatever you like, because there are hundreds of incidences of such abuse all over this site all the time. It seems the rules are applied totally arbitrarily.
