Yeah, I understand where you are coming from and I agree that the rule should apply to everyone, not just Nadia.

well put starsky.

if you want to discuss John Tickles 'nerdness' or Cameron's boring'ness then Nadia's transexuality is up for grabs aswell. (technically..)

To be fair, I think we are allowed to discuss Nadia's transsexuality. We're just not allowed to say Nadia is male, for instance by using "he".

I don't have any desire to refer to Nadia as male; but I think that any rule of this sort should apply equally to all housemates.

Why not?
It dosn't sound like we are allowed to discuss it then, instead we are forced to accept and praise it.

Maybe some will disagree with people calling nadia a man. so what?
Rules can't be introduced just to prevent people saying something that the admin disagrees with. If people think nadia is a woman then they can call nadia "she", in the same sense thoes who thing nadia is a man should be allowed to call nadia "he".

Big brother is about our opinions on people.
What kind of forum prevents people forming opinions on big brother contestants?? Whats the point of that?

Thank God the moderators don't think like you or have the same ideas as you. If they did, this forum might as well have no rules at all.

Everyone has opinions and some opinions can offend others and cause upset so rules are created to cause as little upset as possible.

Does it offend you when people call Nadia "she"?

If a homophobic person joined this board and began ranting and raving about how all homosexual people should be banished from the face of this earth, would it be okay because it's their opinion?

If a racist person joined this board and began ranting and raving about how all coloured people should be banished from the face of this earth, would it be okay because it's their opinion?

It's only certain opinions that are barred. We're not allowed to make racist comments either, for example, or to be offensive. We also have to treat other forum members (though not BB housemates) with respect.

it offends me that I cannot describe a transexual as I see a transexual, but have to abide by someone elses description.

im sure there is an equal rights law regarding transexual's at work. i had a whole lesson on various equal rights at a recent college course. i would imigane the forum rules are based around these.

It is basic democracy people.

Nadia put nadia up for big brother knowing full well what may or may not be published. Nadia took that risk.

The whole point of Big Brother is for US the veiwer to make judgement.

Nobody is saying anybody should be banished from the face of the earth, stop being such a drama queen.
Im just saying people should be allowed to have an opinion on a big brother contestant.

If someone was to stop a transexual in the street and start questioning thier personality or choices then it would be wrong, but we are talking about someone on big brother. The show is about our opinions on people, thier appearance, thier personality, thier choices and what we think of them

How is that being a drama queen? I laid an example of what a homophobic person could say. I've heard a lot worse things said by homophobic people but didn't wish to repeat such horrid comments.

Yeah its true that you can't fire someone for being a transexual, being gay, being a woman or being black.
But you also can't fire them for being a nerd, or for being boring. Yet these are thing we judge big brother contestanrt on.

amazing, the only people quoting homophobia are those trying to defend a very narrow point of view.
Dunedin

you cant fire them for 'just being a ****ing jock' either ... but it happens

No one has said that anyone has been remotely homophobic in this topic. It was used as an example by a few FM's, including me. Does that clear it up for you?
