River City

Guys and Gals, maybe its just me but I have noticed that there is verry little River City threads on here, I am new here and was looking for info on River City, like where is it actually filmed? We should make this thread the sole River City fanbase thread and we (the whole 8 of us) (surely there cant be more fans than that) can discuss the soap in here

I think it's filmed in Dumbarton.

I hated this show when it first started, it was dire , started watching because of Stefan Dennis and have been a fan ever since.

Edit: found this on the BBC RC site:

Quote:
Where is River City filmed?
The set is built on the site of old whisky warehouses in Dumbarton. Location shots are sometimes filmed around the city. For example, when baby Franco was abducted, scenes were filmed around the Clyde river at Bell's Bridge.

Yeah another fan!!!!!!! I have tried to create threads on RC but they die a death fairly quickly. We'll just need to keep bumping this one!

RC is filmed in Dumbarton, last night showed Hazel and Boab on Buchanan Street looking for Vader, noticed the underground station!

The scene with the neds was quite scary, especially the junkie looking for a couple of quid! Very realistic junkie portrayal. I dont want Hazel to take Vader back to Shieldinch, he'll only slink off with Alanna again, would like to see Hazel happy for a period longer than 6 months for a change.

Donna was again very good last night. Especially pouring the drink over the ignorant guys head. Suppose morons like that are what people with disabilities are up against.

I agree, I have tried to fid the site in Dumbarton, as I stay in Greenock and it's only like 20 minutes away from me but I just cant find it anywhere. The junkies were a little pathetic but Bob plays a great part and Hazel should bring Vader back I think cause it would make a craking storyline.

Donna plays an excellent part in the show, its great to see that the BBC dont descriminate and that it proves that people with dissabilities can act just the same as we can.

I stay in Gourock! Havent actually looked for it yet but a guy I was in uni with came from Dumbarton and he had seen it being filmed etc.m(He was an RC hater though!)

Bobs whole family are great I think. The good thing about RC as opposed to other soaps is the acting doesnt seem forced-people actually seem to like each other and you could believe they were family!

I think the footballer and the new nurse are the only characters that arent that good at acting. Suppose will need to give them a chance though.

Just out of interest, was the father of Marco not one of the Maliks that had the grocers shop? Didnt watch it a lot back then so cant remember, its just Gina went to Italy to visit marcos italian relatives? There was a bit of a scandal I think at the time as Jo wasnt deemed suitable for the dad!

She's a daft fish that Kelly Marie! It was quite funny the other day, when she was hiding herself under the duvet!
If she does get preggers, and if it's a boy she'll call him......Anthony Marie Adams!

If a girl......Kelly Marie II, and she'll get preggers with a golf player!

Same here. Used to despise the show but it has turned itself around and is the second best show on the box after Corrie.

Wish it was on more than twice but then I'm also glad cos I'd have no life if it was!

Were the Maliks not Indian? Maybe they just relocated to Italy or... Maybe i'm being overtly pedantic!

I've tried to take control of the remote at 8.30 pm on Fridays but it just results in huffs (from him) and dead arms for me.

Gina's husband (Jo & Ruth's dad) was called Marco too but he died, it was his family she went to see. Wee Marco's dad was called Nazir.
River City is fantastic - I've been a fan since the beginning. There's an official website here which has an episode guide going back to the start in 2002
http://www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/tv/rivercity/index.shtml

Think it also has a bit about where it's filmed.

No, Ruth's dad was not Franco. They admitted a few months ago when the two were fighting that Ruth's dad is someone else. And yes, Gina was going to visit Franco, her husband's relatives.
