If you mean unlocking as in removing the network restrictions from a SIM card, Orange will release your SIM. (for a price) Paying your current service provider is the only legal way to do it IIRC, and discussion of any other methods will only result in this thread being closed faster than you can say "Kiss My Arse"
I'm pretty sure the IMEI is hardcoded into the handset, and therefore 100% permanent. |

I know for some phones you can edit firmwares and upload them to the phone with new IMEI numbers - but your service provider will find out so quickly and will hunt you down, possibly even take legal action.
As for unlocking, yes, it can be done, yes it is illegal, and yes it is fairly risky too. It involves re-flashing your phones firmware with a "pure, nokia original". The ones on locked phones are modified to only allow one sim/network/subset. Generally though, it's all illegal and can get you in a spot of bother. |

The IMEI numbers on the latest Nokias have been tweaked so that people cannot do exactly what you are attempting to do. Why are you and DJRiggs (or whatever his name is) trying to hack and crack things. Surely if riggs can afford a 2Mb ADSL connection and yourself a 1Mb NTL BB line you can afford to buy an offline moby or pay the unlocking fee. Get a life.
___ Note to the moderators : The two above mentioned members seem to insist on discusing immoral if not illegal activites, can anything be done about this? This is a nice forum could we keep it that way. ___ |

Unlocking phones from networks without paying that network or allowing them to know is illegal. Dicussion of such activities on Digital Spy forums is also against our terms and conditions.
Failure to comply with our terms and conditions may result in your posting rights being revoked and/or a permanent ban. Thread Closed John Webb Digital Spy Ltd. |
