Big Brother is not biased. And it's utterly ridulous to suggest such a thing.

The show DOES NOT favour certain housemates over others. If the editing appears so to viewers then it can only be accidental.

And it's ludicrous to suggest that BB producers love certain housemates and hate others...lol.

But then again, there's always wacko conspiracy theorists who are unable to be objective and reasonable.

Oh ok, and Labour didn't send out letters for party members to send to newspapers or have activists in photo shots,

lol i think it's funny that your post is about big brother NOT being biased, then you link to an article that proves that the production staff are, in fact, biased.

You have to realise that big brother isn't a universal entity. Its a program produced by human beings, and as we know, human beings are full of opinions and judgements.
Its more silly to think that the producers arn't biased than it is to think they are compleyely impartial.
Whether this influences thier editing conciously or subconciously it will definetly influence it.

There was an interesting piece in one of the quality dailies the other day about research on the brain - inability to comprehend sarcasm was discovered to be linked to damage in certain areas......Alrightmate was just testing.

One serious point might be the celebrity love island experience. The cast is actually brighter and more attractive than any BB set of HM but the show is producing talk about the end of reality TV because its deathly dull. If thats the background for BB 6 and they can't let the HM freewheel for fear of getting into the dangers of BB3, I think BB6 is going to be even more directed and scripted than BB5 - just to keep us bored viewers interested. BB may not have favourites but boy will (s)he have a script to keep the HM to. Wouldn't be surprised if the winner is obviously the one with the biggest story again either - simple viewers need simple stories.

I agree with you. I too think that BB6 will be even more scripted and controlled than ever before.
Simply because they can get away with it really.

I suppose we have to take those risks and try not to worry too much who wins or loses, because I think that's the point where they start to fool you a bit.

I suppose you can still enjoy the show, but you start watching the show in a slightly different way and find other things interesting that you never considered that much before.

I remember joining this forum at the halfway point of BB3, and it was a bit of a surprise to suddenly see things in a very different way than I did before I joined this forum.

They make their money, so they won't care about being fair. They probably laugh at anyone who accuses them of manipulation, because the more they polarise opinions, the more good it does their show.

Even Heat Magazine talked of the "characters" that the people behind the show would come up with, so these ideas are becoming more widely accepted.

Yet Peter Bazalgette claims (Media Guardian 04/04/05) "Big Brother winners in the UK, such as Craig Phillips and Nadia Almada ... were rewarded for being the most genuine, least conniving participants".

So the belief that we're seeing reality also persists.

The HM selection is treated like a casting audition.
Theres no point going there trying to get selected, they already know what types they want and are just looking for people who fit this type.

It makes you sick doesn't it?LOL.

It's "newspeak" like this that tries to put the idea in people's heads that when BB say someone is genuine, then they naturally must be.

Can't do multiple quotes in one reply so. Starsky (post 3) hits the nail on the head in a far too intellectual and reasoned manner for Big Brother, whaddya mean they can't help it?

thenetworkbabe (post 6): I hope you are wrong and wish to heaven that BB/Endemol/C4 have the guts to realise that BB is the Big Momma of reality shows and they let it flow, to the usual extent, and are not tempted to go to over the top in their control. I am not so naive as to think they do not manipulate the public and media.

Alrightmate (post 7), I think I have learnt my lesson after last year, maybe I was in denial after BB4, cos I actually thought that Cameron was the best of a bad lot. I shall not be watching with rose tinted spectacles this year certainly, oh and I have E4 for the first time as well, so maybe I'll be able to see through some of their 'dirty tricks'

Starsky (post 9) I have always thought they pick to fit what they want from the show, maybe thats what they meant by 'back to basics' for BB4 they picked more ordinary people rather than the 'larger than life' charactures they had for BB5.

It's all about the journey. Which housemate will have the best tab-friendly story to tell? That is what influences the editing.

Ah, producer Dave.. I'd forgotten about him... let's hope a cock-up of similar proportions occurs this year!

Wasnt producer Dave the one who made the comments about Michelle that were picked up? Almost forgot about that

Hamlet77 - welcome to the ranks of the cynical with E4

Yes I agree-you've finally come up with stating the obvious and wheyhey the obvious is correct. Some people would want it otherwise because if not they might be thought rather odd.Netmadness I think I'll call it.Too much posting/TV.

BB biased? Noooooooo how can this be??

new_rose

Peter Bazalgette would think it's highly amusing that some 'fans' of Big Brother think the producers are biased to particular housemates. The housemates are responsible for all of their words & actions & they are all given the chance to portray themselves in a good light.

As John McCririck once said on the show: "You can't fool the public."

Why would opinion on a forum change the way you see things??

You should trust your own judgement - & have the facts to back it up.
